We had an amazing experience in Shawa safari camp. It was absolutely breathtaking in every way. The animals the scenery and the people. Pasha and Douglas were the managers who have an exceptional team and gave us an extraordinary time. Jack Sparrow was our guide on our safaris with his second hand man Jimmy. They were both outstanding. We saw lion, leopard , elephants, giraffes, buffalo, warts hogs and can you believe it a pack of wild dogs. The knowledge safety and professionalism were unbelievable. Thank you jack and Jimmy! We then would come back to camp and were treated like queens, Amos minded us in camp and looked after us so well, ensuring we ate well and were kept safe. The food was absolutely delicious, thanks Amo’s . Michelin star quality food and we have to thank Laurence the chef who with his team were something else. Honestly, we had the most amazing 5 days and we cannot thank all the staff for their kindness professionalism efficiency. We would like to thank James, Anderson, Peter Malenia plus all the staff that we cannot remember their names. Thanks for the most wonderful holiday and experience, nothing beats the most amazing luangwa valley with the fun laughter of the Zambian people. The 4 Irish girls. Definitely a Camp for those who like relative simplicity. The tents are ingenious, but modern, with three sides open on arrival and a contiguous balcony, all raised above ground. The main area is wooden, probably too big for even a full camp. The food, fresh and tasty with excellent service all round. Accessing the NP required a boat ride to other bank to meet our electric powered vehicle. Quite a revelation. Some animals still getting a bit of a surprise, as depending on the road surface, we could arrive unnoticed. The tyres make quite a noise, but engine noise gone. A bit of whirring occasionally. We enjoyed our time here with Donald our guide tracking down creatures great and small. I would recommend it.

This is a "bush camp" (not a hotel), but certainly with many creature comforts, including the Whisper AC unit over the bed for cool sleeping. The tents are a tad small for two, with limited space, but there is an outdoor sitting area, and each tent is quite private. Owing to being quite open and near the river, it is busy with animals and quite noisy (those hippos + elephants!!). Food quality is good, and service/staff are very caring + professional. Overall, it is a very nice comfortable bush camp and nothing to really complain about! South Luangwa National Park is not my favorite (of the many parks I have visited in many African countries)... but glad to have had the experience there.

What an amazing place! Great wildlife, excellent accommodation and fine food. To top it all, great guiding by Jack Sparrow. Yes, that is his real name and his excitement and enthusiasm to show you stuff is unique. Great experience! Keep up the good work.

We were able to spend 5 incredible days here (in September 2023) , the camp is such a beautiful, extraordinary and special place. We enjoyed our time in the spacious and luxurious tent and its veranda and views very much. The hospitality, food, contact with everybody was so wonderful and impressive, the many talks we had, the insights into Sambia, life and of course the National Park and its animals- this was an outstanding experience for us, which we will never forget. The daily routine was also great and very well structured (weak up coffee in the tent, breakfast at the river, morning drive, lunch, afternoon break, tea/coffee, afternoon drive, dinner, campfire… of course also some additional specials…) In the lunch break and evenings we could observe elephants and hippos grasing through the camp, an indescribable wonderful experience (especially out of the bathtub 😉 ). Also we want to mention and give a great Thank You to our wonderful, experienced and attentive safari guide Jack Sparrow, who showed us the National Park in all its diversity and detail. He is a great pathfinder and knows the National Park so well and is very well connected with his colleagues - so that we had lots (!) of spectacular and amazing sightings. His knowledge of flora and fauna, its relationships, places, his explanations, the stories about life here gave us a whole new experience of this precious National Park and Sambia itself. We dream of coming back and can only recommend to come here and visit the camp and NP yourself! Thank you very much!

I tavelled solo with Green Safaris for two weeks in July. Lower Zambezi at Sausage Tree, Chisa Busanga Camp, Shawa Luangwa Camp and Likoma Island in Malawi. I had a totally fabulous time at all three camps in Zambia. Great design, caring kind staff and delicious food. I palled up with an English couple and we had the best time. So much fun. At Shawa we shared a vehicle and fantastic guide Jack Sparrow. Jack is so passionate about nature and the wildlife. Jack was determined to ensure that we had the best time. Morning drives, night drives and beautiful spots for sundowners. Jack is an enthusiast and he arranged for us to watch the World Cup Final in the staff room. A memorable occasion fueled by much laughter and wine. The scenery was amazing and the elephants and rhino population prodigious. I did not feel alone for one minute. A beautiful lunch was set up for me on the deck. Heaven drinking a glass of rose and looking at elephants wander across the bank on the other side. I hold a special place in my heart for Shawa and the lovely team.
