블루 문 게스트 하우스 라피엣(Blue Moon Guest House)

What a warm, wonderful, unique place! I cant overstate how perfect this place was for us- comfortable, spacious, and very much a part of the community. The bed was fantastic, with plenty of pillows, MY FAVORITE. Our room was generous sized and full of light, with posters from past Blue Moon music events covering one wall. We had a deck overlooking the yard, where we enjoyed our morning coffee (free, in the kitchen). Downstairs there is also shared spaces-a full kitchen, dining room and living room, with cozy spots everywhere to read or chat. I loved the mismatched cups and plates, and all the tools to make a meal. The outdoor spaces are incredible- with a back porch bar open in the evenings, its a great place for casual mingling with the locals. We were there for Wednesday Cajun Jam night- and the musicians who showed up were incredible! We loved talking with local people and dancing the two step on the wooden floor. I mostly valued the informality, warmth and generosity that I felt from the hosts, spaces, clientele and staff. Thank you so much for a memorable stay!!

This was a return visit and was one of the best. I was meeting 5 old USMC buddies. We arrived on a Thursday and stayed through Monday. Music I start the review with Music. The people of Lafayette have music embedded in their souls including our friend AJ of AJ and the Bad Cats. The culture is unlike anywhere else I’ve been in the USA. There was live music on Friday night ($5 cover) and Saturday night ($10 cover with three bands). Friday was a jam session made up of local musicians many who have never played together. The talent was off the charts. Saturday drew a younger crowd. Few were over 30, but again the people were all about the music. I only caught the last band and they were incredible. Room I stayed in The Balcony Room which I had stayed the three visits prior. My five friends each had their own rooms. A comment I heard from one friend was how clean his room floor was. He commented that he had walked about the room barefoot and checked his feet and found them completely clean which was kind of funny. It caused me to test The Balcony Room floor which I did and I too had the same result. The Blue Moon is clean. Late night several of us were hanging out on the country front porch. A local musician passed by and was invited to play on the porch. We received a private concert by a very talented musician who is called Watson. This kid is going to draw a crowd. I hope to be back soon.

We totally enjoyed ourselves, each and every one. We are a group of six Marines who serve together many years ago, this was a great place to meet. We had everything we needed, and much more. We were blessed with great music. Thank you! It's a one-of-a-kind place. We met a lot of interesting people .The music was fantastic. Hope we can do it again someday! Thanks again!

This is a unique, wonderful place. The creole cottage attracts a variety of travelers, and the scene is a little different each time. My last stay was rather quiet, with only a few Europeans passing through for a couple nights. When I returned from a work meeting, in the evening, there was a funk band out back tearing it up right. There is a tuned guitar and piano in the living room and a full kitchen. I especially enjoyed coffee on the porch with the grey cat. YOU WILL NEVER MAKE ANY GOOD MEMORIES staying at a corporate hotel in the suburbs. Try the Blue moon!

What a great vibe! The Balcony room was perfect! Enjoyed hearing the band on the balcony and live in the saloon. The bed was dreamy and the room had everything including air conditioning. Common areas easy to navigate and enjoy. Hosts are intentional in the accommodations and it shows! I recommend taking a moment to read all of the headliner posters used as wallpaper. What a wall of magical musicians! Highly recommended staying at the Blue Moon Saloon & Guest House!

Once in a Blue Moon would we stay here again. Thumping of the bands into the wee hours of the morning. Side-by-side refrigerator/freezer not functioning. (Freezer frozen up and not addressed, which is quite telling on the owner’s idea of overall upkeep.) Housekeeper very distant and not receptive of proffered gratuity. Strange. Great for twenty somethings, maybe. At one time, it maybe: “used to be cool”.

Blue moon is so cozy. We love the fact that there is a venue and bar in house. The stay is always great!! The bartender Friday night was fantastic, helpful and mad a fantastic Bloody Mary!! The only small complaint I have is that check in time is 5 which is kinda late, you would think they would have the ac on. It was kinda hot in the room and took quite a bit to cool off.

The house was just the right size for our family. Very cute and had everything we needed. Also walking distance to the Rock n Bowl and all sorts of other cool stuff downtown. Would definitely come again. Theres a big back yard. The price seemed very reasonable too.

For what this is- a hostel - it’s nice. A few things would have helped us as travelers so I do want to point out a few things. It’s cold in the winter in the rooms. They have a space heater but it’s still cold. There are no drawers. I highly suggest - if you need drawers (like we do) there are none. We also needed to plunge the toilet. So if you don’t know how to do that be aware! There are also no windows. I thought there were some behind the curtains but- it’s boards. I wish I had known these things. It was very clean.
