Incredible food, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. We couldn't have asked for more. We especially enjoyed being able to use the comfortable lounge to sit and have drinks before and after dinner. A fantastic place to stay as a base to explore Lacock and surrounding areas.

If you want to experience a room at an inn with old 15th century architecture (duck your head going through some of those doors built for littler people!) mixed with just the right modern comforts, I highly recommend Sign of the Angel. Gorgeous and charming and with superb staff. An extra big shout-out goes to Maddy who was an enormous help to my mother-in-law who was experiencing mobility issues on this trip!

Beautiful old building, very comfortable bed and lovely room. Bathroom needs some tlc and the shower head was mouldy! Would have liked some local literature for places to visit as there was nothing. Apart from that we had a lovely sleep in a very comfortable bed.

Very memorable meal, made so by the amazing flavours of each dish. Beautifully presented in wonderful, historic surroundings. Engaging waiter Ethan was enthusiastic and attentive. Don’t miss visiting this historic inn, a very special experience.

We visited Laycock Abbey and after the visit we decided to wander round Laycock village and had a light lunch at Sign of the Angel. We chose light bites and the food was excellent. We were told that the ingredients were all sourced locally within a 5 mile radius.

We decided to have lunch here yesterday as we were impressed by the exterior of the property and the quaint garden. We both ordered the walnut and beetroot salad. It was smaller than we had expected for the price we were paying, but it tasted ok. However, we both felt that something was missing, and we realised that we were both missing the walnuts. We explained the situation and asked the lady who was serving us if we could have two pots. She returned a short time later with one very small pot and told us that the chef remembered adding them to our dishes. We told her categorically that neither of us received anything, and we asked for another pot. However, it was not forthcoming and we were simply ignored from that point. We decided to just pay-up and leave. We really don’t care about a few nuts, but to have the chef fail to fulfill our order, and then to insinuate that we were somehow lying about it, was an awful experience. Consequently we will never go there again. It is a shame as it is a great space, but the service fell well short of what is acceptable.

The food was fantastic, faultless roasts with tender meat, beautifully cooked veg, crispy potatoes, and huge Yorkshire puddings. Very generous portions and great value for money. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating from taking our booking over the phone to giving us complimentary desserts due to the delay caused by making fresh pastry. They took the service charge off to buy we added it back on and paid it as the service was so wonderful and we had had such a great experience. Will be back!
