JP and his driver picked us up at our hotel at 5:30 am and drove us to 3 or 4 different areas to see specific birds. JP had his tripod and telescopic lens along with a sharp eye and superior knowledge on identifying specific species. But the highlight was breakfast at The Arsenal Oasis Lodge while we watched numerous species visit their fruit feeders just a few feet away. It wasn’t cheap but worth every penny.

We were staying up the road, and came to the Oasis Eco Lodge for breakfast during our stay. This was absolutely lovely, as we had an amazing view of the birds having their breakfast at the same time. It was so good that we came back for dinner two nights running. The food was good, portions generous and the cocktails were excellent. It was also very good value for money.

Beautiful place and great location close to the town but feels like you are still in the Rainforest. Lovely room and clean with fans so you can cool down. Nice walking track, Bird gardens and Butterfly house all at this lodge. Great Restaurant too and the staff are great and helpful. Highly recommend staying and few day's here.

The night walk with Juan was great! Juan is very knowledgeable and pointed out numerous species of frogs as well as vipers, spiders, crickets, snails, ants, a crab!, a female sloth with her baby and several species of fungi including bioluminescence! Couldn’t ask for more! Thanks again Juan.

Arenal Oasis was a great experience to be situated within the jungle and close to wildlife. Pros: Walking trails. Tours (we loved the night tour on the grounds of the hotel, and the sloth tour that drives around Arenal). Restaurant on the grounds with a view of birds feasting on fruit. Staff answered our many questions. Cons: Keep in mind this is an eco lodge. There is no A/C and you will hear the wildlife at night, so if you are a light sleeper you may be woken up by frogs or a woodpecker or howling monkey. At the same time, this is something we will not experience at home so it was exciting to hear all the noises. We also saw a young sloth while walking from our room to reception. Amazing!

We loved this stop on our Costa Rica family trip. It is only a few minutes outside the town of La Fortuna, but you feel like you are in the jungle. An absolute highlight of our trip was the nighttime guided nature hike on site. It was amazing all the wildlife we saw in a couple of hours...myriad different colorful frogs, in particular, but also a sloth (before it got totally dark), insects, and snakes. The rooms are pretty simple, but spacious and fully functional. TBH, it was nice not having a tv...it added to the feeling of being out in nature. We loved it and regretted that we only stayed there two nights.
