This place was amazing. We spent two nights here. The service was outstanding starting with a team of 3 staff ready to welcome us in at 1 a.m , with cold towels and cinnamon tea. We were the only guests for a night and day and were waited on like royalty. The outdoor area for meals was beautiful and the pool also great. The food was geared to our wishes and we sampled some amazing traditional Sri Lankan meals. Would highly recommend this place as a stop over or relaxing getaway.

Notary house is a 45 minute drive from colombo airport and perfect for a relaxing stay after a long journey. Neat and clean rooms with eco friendly amenities. The food is tasty and staff ensure a great stay. The pool is beautiful, overlooking the lake. We went on a cycling tour around the country side and also visited the temple nearby during sunset. We enjoyed our 2N stay.

Beautiful property. Very comfortable, everything clean and staff exceptionally helpful & friendly. The property is a wonderful historic house that has been maintained to a high standard. The pool is in a cracking position and overlooks the beautiful lake. The food is really good and the property gardens are on an impressively beautiful lake. Bird lovers paradise! We inly stayed 1 night but would have enjoyed longer for a peaceful stay surrounded by nature.

Wonderful hotel with such friendly staff. Couldn’t do enough for us & made our stay feel extra special decorating our room for our honeymoon. The food was absolutely incredible, homemade & delicious! Our room was huge & we loved the walk in double shower. The hotel grounds & pool were immaculately well looked after, located in such a peaceful place overlooking a lake. We had to leave very early in the morning to catch our flight & they got up early for us and sent us on our way with breakfast & so kindly gave me a book I had been reading the evening before. This is a very special place with warm, kindhearted people. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Daisy & Todd

This beautiful hotel is situated in a stunning rural location with a lovely garden next to a lake, teeming with wildlife. We were given a wonderful welcome which was a perfect antidote to the long flight. The friendly staff were always a step ahead and couldn't do too much for us. One of them took us on a walk to the local temple and started our introduction to Sri Lankan birds and plants. The excellent food was all freshly prepared and exquisitely presented. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. We were sorry to have to leave after just one night.

We can heartily recommend this very familiar, small boutique hotel at the beginning or end of a Sri Lanka tour. recommend. The entire facility is very lovingly designed. We immediately felt at home. Especially the staff is super attentive and loving. Our heartfelt thanks go to Nippun, Saman, Shalinda as well as Lester (chef) and Kumari (so sweet). Thanks also for the great recipes.

We stayed for one night after long flight from UK.Perfect place to rest after travelling,unwind in the pool amid the beautiful grounds watching the birds around the lake.Kumara kindly took us for a walk to a nearby Buddhist temple where we were able to go inside and learn a little more. Staff showed us into the kitchen where we were given our first experience of making coconut milk using green coconuts from the grounds and sambal. Our evening meal,superb Sri Lankan curry,was served in the ‘pagoda’ in the middle of the lawn overlooking the lake as was our breakfast. The main building and our bedroom were beautifully decorated and furnished and staff were so friendly. A superb start to our holiday. Would highly recommend Notary’s

We had such a wonderful stay at the Notary House. Everything was superb, the room, the cleanliness, the whole building was enchanting and the staff were fabulous, they could not do enough for us and made us so welcome. Must mention the chef as the food was fabulous too. Hope to return to Sri Lanka and if so will definitely stop here but next time for two nights not one.
