Bann Makok the Getaway

😁: the place lies near a small clear river, full of fish, moving with the tide, in the middle of mangroves. The hotel is tastfully furnitured. It is nice to lie on the terrace and look at the river. 😖: there was a very bad smell around our room and the area next to it as mentioned in many other comments. This might stem from the muddy ground but also from the toilets. Especially when the air condition is not on, this is difficult to bare. Officially air condition is on from 7:00pm to 7:00 am otherwise the room offers only a fan which does not manage to clear the air. Two nights the air condition didnt work at all. Without air condition only with a small fan it is very difficult to spend time in the room during the day, it smells and is really hot. The room itself is dark, very weak electric light, I had to read with the torch of my mobile phone, small windows with curtains. These curtains are necessary as the back of the room seems to function as an area for garbage deposit , stray dogs , their feces … this is also the entry area of the hotel. To get towels you have to ask the receptionist, it is not enough to put the dirty towels on the floor. The dirty ones are removed, but new towels are not provided Restaurant: the breakfast ( included ) is very poor. Some flakes, yoghurt, ready made juices, some fruits. You can order eggs in different forms. This would be alright, for a cheap hotel, but not for this price. Restaurant food is just ok, you can eat at many places much better, for example at shanta resort. Breakfast at mermaid cafe, which we discovered during our trip, is really great, everything homemade with bowls and croissant, homemade jam etc, Personal: except the man looking for the boats and one waiter in the restaurant the employees are arrogant and unfriendly . Especially the lady at the reception who seem to be in charge of the hotel is arrogant and passive aggressive. When you ask something, she gives you the feeling that you did something wrong or that it is too much work for her. Very unfriendly, very untypical for thailand. We stayed for 8 days in bann makok, we will certainly not return.

Prachtig gelegen aan een mangrove. Het is intiem en kleinschalig. Wakker worden aan de rivier in de stilte is onvergetelijk. Het is klein dus je zit echt op elkaar, s’avonds kan je letterlijk alles horen van de buren. Wat mij tegenviel is de receptioniste, ze was echt onaardig, zeker toen wij klaagden over een serieuze veiligheid issue met een boottocht. Het werd opgelost maar wijn moesten erop staan, wat is heel jammer vond. Ook had ze ons een andere prijs beloofd voor het huren van een scooter dan op de rekening stond. Wij hebben alles neetjes betaald maar het voelde niet goed. Er is geen manager of eigenaar aanwezig die je kunt spreken. Het is te duur voor de kwaliteit die ze aanbieden. Wij waren teleurgesteld. Wij werden meerderen malen gestoord door mensen die wouden roken terwijl het gelukkig niet mocht. Personeel deed niks. Alles is houd dus heel brand gevoelig.

Wat een geweldige tijd hebben we gehad! We werden hartelijk verwelkomd door Ning. Ze is supervriendelijk en heeft ons meteen geholpen met al onze vragen. Ze denkt al actief mee doordat ze al meteen de terugreis had geregeld. Ook huren van een scooter wordt meteen geregeld en alles in een zeer relaxte sfeer! Ontzettend leuke tour gehad met ons eigen bootje en genoten van het mooie koraalrif. De kamer was echt een plaatje! Zo sfeervol! Je komt hier helmaal tot rust! Het is zijn geld dubbel en dik waard. Het eten is zeer lekker! Er is ook een fijne ruimte om lekker te relaxen aan het water. Het is gewoon Top! Echt een aanrader als je houd van rust, lekker eten en mooie natuur! Ning en ander personeel, bedankt! 💕
