Borderlands

Borderlands is a funky "glamping" site on the banks of the Kelani river, a beautiful stretch of water where watersports are available for those who wish to see the forest from a different perspective. We enjoyed an afternoon of kayaking with some gentle white water and swimming, and Borderlands also offers white water rafting and canyoning excursions which are highly recommended in this area. The family accommodation was a large treehouse open to the rushing river below...truly wonderful and memorable, though quite rustic and not for those looking for luxury. Food was a mostly european choice although we did persuade them to provide us with Sri Lankan food whilst we were there. The young chef excelled at local food but was not so hot on Western offerings! All in all a great place to spend a couple of nights.

If you want to stay in a lovely cottage with open view without windows on river and jungle then this is the place to be. The food (lunch, diner and breakfast) is limited but various and delicious. Manager Samiré and his team are very friendly and they help you where they can. The canyoning and rafting facilities are very well guided.

We've had an amazing stay at Borderlands. It is now off-season in Sri Lanka so it wasn't very busy, nevertheless we felt very welcome. We had some nice chats and drinks with the owner and the crew and made some new friends as well. The rooms are nice and tidy and the food is amazing. Last but not least: they have the best trained crew for activities such as canyoning amd rafting. Would definitely recommend!

This is a place I would recommend for everyone. Join them on rafting and cayoning, its an experience you will never forget. The staff is super friendly, and good food. We slept in cabins with the wall aganist the river is open. That was so coil! The whole place is magical! I would love to come back!

Fab location overlooking the river. Staff are very friendly, food is plentiful, beer is cold. Great afternoon white water rafting and canyoning, felt very safe with the two guides. Good fun for teens and their parents. The cabins are very rustic. Lots of wildlife included so did not result in a great nigh’s sleep but the joy of waking up to the sound of the river and the bird song makes up for the slightly uncomfortable sleep. We were the only tourists at the time of the stay, a large group of school children were leaving as we arrived. The atmosphere would be better with more guests.

Although very beautiful place, the price isoutrageous ! Especially for Sri Lanka! You sleep on a hard matras in a beautiful cabin, but with a shared bathroom. For our cabin you had to take two stairs. Because everything is outside you get wet when it rains and everything is slippery. Diner was simple but ok. Breakfast was the same. Staff is friendly and helpful like everywhere. It is just the price!!!we stayed in places which where way more convenient for half the price. Eg Mutu village in Habanara or La Lyvie in Tangalle.
