A difficult one to review. For a place that brands itself as a luxury boutique hotel it isn’t exactly that by international standards. The building is wonderful in its traditional style and the stupas and references to Nepali architectural history and belief systems. The staff at reception are great. But the hotel interior is very tired and in need of attention. Walls are marked, fittings are old, furnishing covers and cushions are marked, curtains need a clean, towels and bedding (including pillows) need a proper cleaning or new stocks should be bought in. In room items like soap and shampoo are very basic and again not in keeping with the ‘luxury’ tag. A general revitalization is needed if the ‘luxury boutique’ brand is to be retained. Without the reference to luxury it would be an acceptable local mid range Kathmandu hotel. It’s just that expectations are not met based on the branding.
