During our recent visit to Kanyakumari, my wife and I stayed at Hotel Sangam, primarily drawn by its excellent location. Situated within walking distance from the beach, Vivekananda Rock Memorial ferry point, and the local market, the hotel made it very convenient to explore the city on foot, especially for first-time visitors. However, our experience started on a slightly sour note. Despite requesting early check-in due to our travel schedule, we had to wait for a few hours before being allotted a room. What made the situation worse was the unwelcoming and borderline rude behavior from the reception desk. The tone lacked the basic hospitality you expect when checking into a hotel after a long journey. Thankfully, things improved after the initial hiccup. The rest of the hotel staff was courteous and helpful throughout our stay. The room, though, was not very good. The proximity to the beach meant we could enjoy a peaceful morning walk and witness the sunrise without any hassle. In summary, Hotel Sangam is a good option for its location and basic comfort, but the management should definitely work on front desk etiquette and room quality. It makes a huge difference, especially for tourists.
