It pains me to give this place two stars since I loved it so much, and you may be wondering why I would give it two stars if I did love it. Read on to find out the pros and cons, and how the cons were big enough to outweigh the pros.
Pros:
-Chris is fantastic as a manager.
-His entire staff is amazing. I particularly liked Gabriel, Roger (night manager), and Pablo (restaurant manager).
-The property itself is absolutely beautiful.
-The rooms are very nice too, especially the presidential suite which I got a personal tour of.
-They have adorable animals that live there.
Cons:
-there was a very bad storm on Wednesday that caused the power to go out for over 5 hours. That meant that there was also no running water at all, since it ran off of electricity for the pumps. The hotel has no backup generators.
-there was a supposed agreement with Mayan Beach Club on Playa Norte. Come to find out after wasting 400 pesos round trip with tip and a few hours of time, I would’ve had to have spent 400 pesos at Mayan to sit in the “free” chair. Chris was apologetic when I told him, and said this was the first it’s happened
-I ate at Suenos’s sister restaurant that they own, Kin Ha, which by the way serves fantastic food, almost everyday, sometimes several meals per day. I kept a detailed line item of everything I ordered in a note on my phone, noting how much I spent per day. My total came out to 3940 pesos. Somehow when I went to check out, that total was 4356 pesos.
