Last month it was out one time for two hours while they made a repair. When electric is out, internet will also be out. While the building has a generator, individual units do not. Many stores and restaurants in the area do.ANIMALS & INSECTSAlso like most tropical locations, you may see things like insects or reptiles (Izzy sunning on the rocks in the morning) or etc. Sometimes (rarely) even inside, although our regular pest control takes care of insects and if you see them, they likely will not be alive. We have seen a CRAB inside - what a surprise when we opened the door! - and helped him scoot through the balcony door back to the great outdoors. One time the husband left the balcony door open for the breeze while we were in the bedroom, and when we went back into the living room, there was a visitor from the universal cat distribution system standing there staring at us (alas, he quickly left and did not become a pet, but you will likely see him hanging around outside, we have nicknamed him Rincon Garfield). A pretty bird was really wanting in through our picture window the other day and seemed confused why I wouldn't let him or her in. Mosquitos tend to visit (outside) morning and evening, and you will want spray since they carry some of the same diseases as in southern US. So, like most tropical locations, you need to be aware that you will see (mostly friendly) members of the animal world around. When you're really lucky, from Jan-April you may even see a whale or two off the coast as they migrate through the Mona Passage.EARTHQUAKES & STORMSPuerto Rico is situated in a region that has regular earthquakes although they are often so mild that you won't even feel them. Just be aware.It's also in a hurricane region, which should not surprise anyone. Watch the weather for warnings while you are here.Either of these could result in a very rare tsunami, although the island hasn't experienced one since 1918, but always something to be aware of in a coastal region.THINGS THAT BREAKIf you notice something is broken, runs out, or normal wear and tear that you notice during your stay - which can be more common this close to the ocean and the amount of salt in the air - please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements quickly. Some replacements mean a trip to San Juan or slow shipping from the mainland plus scheduling a handyman, so the sooner we know, the quicker we can handle it.While we strive to provide a worry-free experience, some fees may apply in the following circumstances to cover associated costs:NO PETSWe regret that NO pets are allowed per the HOA rules (only owner residents may have pets in the building, and then only with HOA permission). Pets inside the condo will result in a $100 fine from the HOA that you will be required to pay, plus a $75 fee from us to cover required additional deep cleaning and pest control. Note that this is not covered as part of the damage protection policy since it is fines. We appreciate your understanding on this strict policy especially since it is outside our control. Surrounded by the lush forest, this property is located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood, just up from a waterfall and has multiple fruit trees on the property. We are just a few minutes from the beach, but with the peaceful, remote atmosphere found in the mountains and a waterfall just down the street! Fall asleep listening to the coqui, and be awakened by the roosters. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature! The house has been converted to solar, so storms or the frequent rolling blackouts from Luma will not be a problem! Spacious rooms with air conditioning, comfortable memory foam mattresses, quality bedding, and towels, provided. Crib also provided for those guests who need one. Well stocked kitchen has everything you need to cook your own gourmet meals if you choose to, but most guests choose to enjoy experiencing wonderful cuisine the wide variety of restaurants Rincon has to offer! Happy to help you with any recommendations if you need some! The neighbors are wonderful people who are locals. We all value the peace and quiet in the neighborhood. Most of the neighbors are up early for work most days, so please respect their need for sleep at nights and be responsible. If you are looking to host parties etc, this is not the right place to book, and we kindly ask that you find a more suitable listing. Laundry room is located in the outbuilding. There is driveway parking for up to 3 vehicles (however during mango season I would not park a vehicle under the mango tree, so I recommend only using 2 spaces). We’ve also stocked the house with games, puzzles, movies, and a Wii that you are welcome to use to enjoy your family time together. There is a wheeled cooler that you are welcome to take with you to the beach or any other adventures. Please return it nice and clean though! A couple of important things to note about the property:The driveway is steep, so oversized SUVs or trucks sometimes need to have 4 wheel drive in order to make it up the driveway (smaller cars and SUVs don’t seem to have a problem, but if it is wet it can be slippery and can be a little more challenging). Street parking is also available across the street in front of the vacant house if you don't want to pull up the driveway.Also, as is the case with many properties on the island, we have a sensitive septic system. No feminine products or toilet paper down the toilet please!!!! It will create problems! We provide plenty of trash bags for the can in the bathroom for all paper items. Welcome to The Babanees, a quaint and cool, boho surfer style home located in the heart of desirable Puntas, Rincon. With over 20 windows inside, it makes for a beautiful airy and light space. Situated on the top of "Bummer Hill" the home has sweeping ocean views from almost every room. It is a three bedroom, one bath private house rental I took on the undertaking of rehabbing and designing the property myself. It’s boho surfer chic style holds a certain novelty that only a place like Rincon, PR could possess. The house has all brand new appliances. New stove, refrigerator, bath remodel, furniture, 50' screen TV with streaming capabilities, high-speed internet, and brand new inverter A/C. There is plenty of ventilation from the abundance of windows in the home. I have a reverse osmosis filter in the kitchen ensure you are getting the cleanest and safest water. The house is fully equipped with everything you need to live comfortably. I’ve tried my best not to miss any details! I have a 300 gallon back up gravity water cistern. Please keep in mind that the water does frequently go out in Puntas. I have made it my job to ensure that when the city water turns off, my guests never go without water. My goal is to keep making this home better, cozier, and more unique. I wanted to create a space that will make you feel relaxed while on vacation.
