This hotel is as nice as any 4 or 5 star hotel I've stayed in. It is VERY clean. The room was nice and decor is looked great. The bed was comfy. The bedding was great. The bathroom was nice sIzed, and I really like the light framing the bathroom mirror. They made a great choice on the complementary shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. I love when hotels have pump bottles in the shower. Last but least, the continental breakfast is the best one I've encountered in over 2 years. There was scrambled eggs, links, biscuits and gravy and more. The only reason I think the hotel is not getting better ratings is because it's priced quite a bit higher than the other hotels in Columbia City. There is nothing I can complain about, other than I wish the person who checked us in would have let us know how great the continental breakfast would be. We would've gotten up and around a little earlier.

We travel a lot and chose mid priced places. I was a little concerned to stay here at a 2 star. In reality this was better than some 5 stars we have stayed in. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful as was the breakfast staff. The room was spotless. The bed so comfortable, we overslept. Breakfast was a hot buffet with lots of choices( very good hot cinnamon rolls). The handicap room we had was truly handicap accessible with a roll in shower, shower seat, good handrails. We would definitely stay here again

We reserved 6 rooms in total, 5 on the 3rd floor and 1 on the 2nd floor. Every single room had issues! None of the showers drained, 4 of the rooms the shower handle didn't work to turn the water on, exposed wires in 1 room, the thermostat in 1 room had low batteries which took the staff 2 days to replace, and the pool was down. We were told we could swim at a different hotel 15 minutes away but that we could only swim in the pool and not the hot tub because the roof had just caved in over the hot tub, makes you really feel safe swimming in the pool! And they overcharged EVERY SINGLE ROOM! One of the staff members in fact informed me that they have a terrible reputation for overcharging their guests and to keep an eye on our charges, so glad I listened to him!!! Will NEVER stay in this hotel again and absolutely do not recommend!!!

I would not stay at this hotel. They charged my credit card twice, and refuse to refund me my money. I provided tracking numbers to their bank and they refuse to refund. They said it happens often, and get that it is my credit cards problem.

This was the worst experience that I have ever had at a Holiday Inn. When trying to check in, there were issues with the credit card. Finally made it to the room only to find the floor filthy. The toilet was borderline non operational. Drawers were missing handles. The entire hotel smelled dirty and musty. Room was very humid and never cooled down all night. There were no operating ice makers in the hotel. The solution was a few community ice bags in the lobby for everyone to use. The stairs smelled horribly of cigarette smoke and appeared to never been vacuumed. The TV did not work with or without the remote. A mystery stain on what was supposed to be clean bedding sent me over the edge. I checked out after day 1 of a 5 day stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone based on pure filth and lack of upkeep.

This was the worst experience that I have ever had with a hotel. I travel quite a bit for work and tend to be pretty laid back, especially when it comes to staying at a lower budget hotel. I was not expecting the Ritz, just a clean room, clean beds, working TV, air conditioning, and a shower. The first night my family and I checked in, we were greeted by a sign on the front desk stating that they were too busy to greet us for check in, but we could call the number on the sign. I guess smoking and goofing off with another person outside is more important than taking care of customers. I took my exhausted family upstairs to our room after driving 12 hours, and the TV didn't work. After trying to figure it out. I gave up. The next morning my husband realized everything was completely unplugged. The air in the room was so humid. we had to keep the air at 67 and the bedsheets still felt wet. There was hair in the bathroom when we checked in. One would think that there would be a quality check from someone before check in. When we went to take showers, I could not get the water to turn on. My husband finally got the water to come on, but there was no cold water. I cannot bathe my kids in burning hot water. When I went downstairs, I explained that we didn't have a shower that worked. we only had one more night to stay, and honestly I didn't want to pack everything back up and switch rooms at 10pm when my kids are half asleep. I did however pay to check into one room, with access to a shower, and felt that they could compensate me for having to use my sister's shower across the hall. I explained that my family and I had travelled 12 hours for a very short 3 night stay. We were exhausted, and packing back up, dragging the kids to a new room, and unpacking again, just wasn't an option. This was the worst experience that I have ever had with a hotel. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with a group from our hockey team. We came down from Canada for a Roller hockey tournament in Fort Wayne. We had to check out of our previous hotel because it was horrific and dirty. This was the only hotel within 30 min with availability to accommodate 8 families. They promptly checked us in to our rooms. Rooms were all large and clean - minus some dirt on the tiles at the entry to my room. The hotel staff were lovely and very accommodating. They even prepared some yogurt, fruit and cereal for our 10 yr old boys at 520 am to ensure they had breakfast before we had to leave for a game early in the morning. All our needs were met with a smile - Thank You!

My son is a part of a travel baseball team who all chose to stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbia City because we had a tournament in Columbia City for the entire weekend. Our issues started from the moment we arrived to check in. We approached the front desk and approached a not-so-friendly man (I would not go as far as saying gentleman) who was on the phone and did not acknowledge we were there for several minutes. After telling him our information, he stated we did not have a reservation with the facility. This was AFTER I had already called the day before to confirm they had our reservation just as a precaution and was told we DID have a reservation, and everything was okay. The man then stated that the hotel was almost booked up so they could only offer us a King Suite, which is what I had booked in the first place so that fine. He was not very accommodating and treated us as if we were a burden just by wanting to check in to the establishment he worked at. We then gathered our belongings from our vehicle and headed to our room. We had to pass the pool on our way, which our children were very excited about…only to be met with disappointment because the pool was closed for maintenance. I would think they could send something out to their guests or something advising this because that is a big factor when traveling with kids because that is their main enjoyment when staying at a hotel and a contributing factor when choosing a hotel. When we arrived at our room, we noticed the hallways REEKED of fresh paint. Once in our room, we tried to lift the blind to let in some light and it was broken. We called the front desk and they said there was nothing they could do about it and that we would just have to leave it as it was. I always do a once over whenever I check into a hotel room to check for stains, filth, and most importantly, bugs because that is a major deterrent. The rooms cleanliness would receive a 6.5/10 from me. The floors were so filthy that the soles of my infant son’s white socks were completely black from the amount of debris in the carpet. I sent my eldest son to the ice machine for ice and once again met with disappointment. There was a sign on the machine saying it was out of order. Luckily, he had ran into a fellow baseball parent and they advised that the only ice available was either from the 3rd floor ice machine OR there was a bag of ice kept in the freezer in the lobby that everyone was taking a cup and dipping ice out of the bag. I was appalled. It is absolutely not sanitary for everyone in a hotel to be “dipping” their OWN cups into the bag of ice to take back up to their rooms. And for this establishment to think that is a good option is beyond me. Needless to say, we went to the 3rd floor ice machine for ice for the entirety of our trip. Also, I would like to add that just a few hours after we arrived at the hotel, there was an awful screeching/beeping noise on our floor (2nd floor) which we found was

We had to change rooms cause the tile in the entrance and bathroom was so sticky my shoes were sticking. I had to wash up the floor in the second room and the washrag was black. Dirty hand towels.🤢🤢🤢
