I spent a bit over 2 months in Punta Huanchaco Hostal with Gigi and Dario. The couple received me with open arms and I felt like in my own home since day one. It is a very special and unique Hostal, this is my second family in South America. I've been traveling over 18 months and I haven't been in such a welcoming and warm place. If you have any questions about Peru or activities nearby, Dario and Gigi are very happy to help. They will organize a taxi or call the bus company if there are any complications with your trip. No matter if that is at 7 am or at 10 pm. No matter if the Hostal is full they will always find time to answer all your questions and help you out in any way. Even though 6 cats live in the Hostal it is always very clean. The rooms are very tidy and the bathrooms are very very clean and have hot water! The spacy kitchen allows 3 people (couples) to cook at the same time. They have a lot of utensils, knifes that cut well (and that's rare for low budget hostels) and a lot of different pans. Thus you can cook your own food very easily. The travelers that stay at Punta Huanchaco are very chill people thus it is easy to make good friends. I usually made my coffee in the morning and sat at the outside tables chatting with other travelers. It made it a very familiar and chill vibe in the Hostal. The Hostal is also equipped with some dumbbells and a surf balance board to practice your balance before heading out for a good surf session. It is perfectly located only a few minutes away from the main point break of Huanchaco. So you can go check out the waves with your morning coffee and then go back to the Hostal to get ready for your Surf session only within few minutes. More or less every morning I went to Functional Gym classes with Dario to get fit for the day. At night I spent an hour dancing Zumba with Gigi at the local Gym. Not only did they take me to the gym but also we went to Trujillo to eat the best Chifa I had in Peru. In general if you have any questions about good restaurants in Huanchaco or Trujillo Dario and Gigi know best. For any surfer Huanchaco is a great place to improve your surfing as it has waves the whole year around. I definitely recommend Punta Huanchaco Hostal for anyone that visits Huanchaco. However you have to know that this Hostal is not a Party place but in general the town isn't know for it's big parties. It's a place to enjoy life, beautiful sunsets, great food and amazing people. Thank you very much Gigi and Dario, you have a very special place in my heart. I will be back soon! Take care, Céline
