I typically avoid negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was disappointing.
**Positives**
The hotel rooms were clean and had a lovely European aesthetic. The vinyl and Marshall speaker setup was a nice touch, and the tea table offered a quiet spot. However, significant issues overshadowed these positives.
**Mosquito Problem**
Being near a lake, there was a noticeable mosquito issue. I recommend keeping windows shut and bringing repellent.
**Anniversary Celebration Gone Wrong**
I booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary, but the customer service was a disaster. Thankfully, Trip.com’s customer service was far superior to the hotel’s.
**Location**
I read reviews that described it as a romantic getaway, which is why we chose this spot. The hotel is secluded, with an entrance fee for the lakeside. Guests pay only if they visit, but most offer free transport.
**Food Options**
Dining options are limited; most places open at 10 AM and close by 8 PM. We felt hungry upon check-in and for breakfast, so planning ahead is essential. The fridge in the room isn’t very cold, so avoid perishable items.
**Entertainment Issues**
While I knew there was no TV, those who need one should consider this. We brought a book and listened to vinyl, but the WiFi was decent for other entertainment. The setup for lights and air conditioning is outdated, and clearer instructions would enhance the guest experience.
**Transportation Issues**
Many taxis won’t enter this area, and we were dropped off 1.4 km away, needing to walk to the entrance. Contact the hotel in advance to arrange shuttle service. The front gate staff didn’t know when shuttles would arrive, which added to our confusion.
**Lack of Experience**
Guests pay a premium, and the service should reflect that. The staff needs better training to handle transportation and customer service issues. Procedures for handling complaints and ensuring guest safety should be clear, especially when a manager isn’t present.
**Privacy**
The first floor is at street level, offering little privacy. Pedestrians can see directly into the rooms unless the blinds are closed. The bathtub next to the window also lacks privacy. We eventually received an upgrade to a second-floor room, which was better, but initial communication about these issues was frustrating.
**Conclusion**
While the front desk staff tried to be helpful, their lack of training and proactive service was disappointing. I had to advocate for a room upgrade, which shouldn’t be necessary. If I could have received a full refund, I would have left, but the hotel is far from the city center.
In summary, while this hotel has potential, significant improvements in staff training, customer service, and communication are essential. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay.
