The Limes Guest House

Because of the pictures in advertising we were curious where we would end up. Let's say the pictures were taken very smart. The place is being sold at this moment, the to be new owners are practicing how it all works. But @Terry and your wife to be, please don't buy this hotel, hostellery is not your cup of tea. How hard you are trying and how friendly and energetic you are, this is not the future that will make you nor your guests happy. We had a good laugh about all things that went wrong during our two night stay, to much to write down. But it will be disappointing for future guests. No hard feelings about our stay but this is an honest warning not to sign for the take over.

Awful stay. I walked out a day early. On arrival the owner was confused and disorganised. Kept confusing my booking with another solo traveller who had arrived the day before. Eventually found my booking on her "Comms". Kept going off on tangents and it was 45 mins before she finished showing me to my room. I found a jug or rancid milk in the switched off fridge when I went to put the small teapot of milk she had given me in it. The fridge smelt terrible but she did not offer to clean it. The disgusting jug of milk I had handed to her remained in reception for almost 24hrs. Breakfast is pre-order but on Saturday arrived an hour late, with incorrect items and was not properly cooked. I left the table without eating it. On the Sunday morning I was informed by fellow guests that there was no cooked breakfast as the owner had stayed out all night and wasn't back. They had been served tea and coffee by what I assumed was a waitress but was in fact a long term guest staying in the B and B with her family. She had returned to her room so there were no more hot drinks available. The front door had been left unlocked all night. I had a room on the ground floor and did not feel safe staying in the property having learned the door was left unlocked. The place is reasonably clean and bed was comfy. The owner apparently has no staff and is running the property single handedly but is clearly not capable of running it well.

Arrived for 3pm Check in time having booked and payed for a 26 night stay. No answer at the door, phone call or messenger. I booked through Airbnb and got my money back thankfully. The place looks dire from the outside. Airbnb have taken this place off there sites and no wonder. I would never recommend The Limes Guest House to anybody thinking of staying here. Avoid at All Costs. Terrible.

It is a lovely guest house, in a perfect spot just minutes walk from the town centre. Jan the manager could not do more for you and offers an excellent breakfast. The rooms are well apointed with fridge, kettle tea and coffe making facilities and fresh milk rather than the cartons can be given on asking. You have your own bathroom and i have stayed in a single and a double. We took our dogs for a small extra cost which was lovely to be able to do. I've stayed in a few accomodations in Montrose and I think this is by far the most lovely and best value for money. It has on street and car park parking as well and just updated the internet so thats great. You can use the lounge as well and it is really peaceful sat there looking oout over the garden.

We stayed one night in this beautiful Georgian B&B guest house, Karen the host was friendly & the whole house was spotlessly clean, we had a family bedroom, comfy bed, a great shower, also had coffee, tea etc. A five minute walk to all the shops, restaurants & bars. We will return.

Elegant setting. Outstanding service. Very personable. It was a pleasant and comfortable setting. The owner was very accommodating and attentive. You feel like you are visiting a relative. Easy parking and each room has its own private bathroom. Breakfast was provided and they also offered directions and guidebooks to local attractions. Great place to hang your hat while visiting. Definitely would come back.
