Mackellar Motel

A 4 star rated motel? What a joke! After a long day of travel we looked forward to a relaxing shower, only to discover there was NO hot water to our room. We waited patiently thinking it would increase in temperature, but still no hot water. I phoned reception after hours number twice, only to be told that "there are 2 spa baths in your block and obviously they have used up all of the hot water - what else can I say, what do you except me to do about it?" The Manager offered no discount or apology, or any form of solution - but was quite happy to debit our credit card for the full room tariff. Zero for customer service - how do these people stay in business?

This is a well-presented property with spacious rooms, good lighting, effective air-conditioning, comfortable beds and under-cover parking - as you would expect for a country motel charging around $200 or more a night. However, that figure does includes a continental breakfast to the room. However, guests are not given a choice of items for the room service breakfast eg type of cereal, fruit juice variety and bread type etc . This might sound "picky" but when a motel is in that price range one might expect to be able to peruse a continental breakfast room service menu. This "one size fits all" might suit a certain clientele, but it is a bit outdated in an era when many people have dietary preferences. The staff did provide me with some alternatives when I requested some breakfast preferences but one should not have to ask for that at a property of this standard and price range. Having said that I would stay at this property again.

Extremely clean, spacious and modern rooms. Complimentary continental brekky in lovely breakfast room and/or good selection of hot brekky choices at reasonable prices. Great location. Club Gunnedah across the road and other dinner options a short stroll. Friendly hosts.

Excellent service from Bridget & staff I had a small glitch with booking through a third-party ( FYI JUST RING THEM DIRECT FOR BEST SERVICE & PRICE) which I probably wouldn’t have picked up on as I was going down for Dad‘s funeral and probably wasn’t focusing as well as I could’ve been. These guys found it sorted it out all before I actually picked it up 12 days later & only when a credit went through and I got the notification, honesty beyond, thank you .Our room was very clean & spacious, bed & pillows were very comfortable, great shower nice and hot with good pressure, lovely complimentary Continental breakfast and Bridget made me a very good cappuccino, the motel is walking distance, actually across the road or next door. It’s that close to all types of food,dine in or Takeaway. I would recommend staying here and it will be my go to when travelling through Gunnedah. THANKS AGAIN FOR A COMFORTING STAY AT A DISTRESSING TIME.

I have only just checked in, but am amazed by the service and the motel. This is my new motel for my trips the Gunnedah. Front desk was more than helpful, the rooms are large, fresh and comfortable bed. Offers chargeback to local restaurants and the club over the road & also inclusive of breakfast in the morning. Great pressure in the shower. Cant fault this motel and also its a great price. I recommend this motel for anyone looking for a better motel in Gunnedah

Warm, comfortable, wuiet room, great bed, big bathroom huge shower with excellent pressure(hurrah!) good continental breakfast included in price of room. Great location close to restaurants and with friendly, very helpful staff. Recommended.
