Water is caught of the roof and stored in tanks below and above the house. Use it moderately, or sparingly in a drought. It's 5 min. walk to the beach, or less than a minute by car.Drive a windy 10 minutes over the hill to shop for your groceries or to eat out in Tryphena or Claris and discover the many walking tracks the island has to offer. The Kowhai Track and Station Rock Track are only a 15 minute drive away, or link them up for a full 4 hr loop of walking with the road right out front. And, did you know that the island is a Dark Sky Sanctuary? Due to lack of light pollution, Aotea offers some of the best skies you will ever encounter. Stargazing tours by the Good Heavens team take place just down the road, on top of a sand dune along Medlands beach.
