What a beautiful place to stay, the town and the hotel. We are so glad we picked this over the Schloss after seeing both. So much character and the outdoor space is really beautiful and unique, way better than the aforementioned. We had the least expensive room type which was more than adequate with a real king bed and view of the rose garden. The staff were wonderful. The restaurant was also expensive but very good. Included breakfast was fantastic. Splurge and go here rather than the Schloss which is even more expensive and not as nice imho. We rented their bikes for the day and did a 60km loop up and down the Danube each side to Melk. Bikes were very good and only 14E for the day each. This was such a wonderful thing to do. There are options with boats and ferries to do both sides of the river shorter bikes as well.

Situated in the heart of Dürnstein, it was a perfect place to stay. The room was clean and spacious, the staff were very friendly and the dinner was unforgettable. The most surprising thing was that it was so quiet, even though the street was full of tourists. If you want to make the most of your holiday in the Wachau, it's a good idea to book a room here. The price was reasonable considering the expensive hotels in Vienna.

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. Perfectly situated in the heart of Durnstein. Beautiful views of the Danube. Rooms were impeccably clean and beds were so comfortable! Excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend staying at this gorgeous hotel.

Stayed on a Friday night in mid-August. Excellent location, beautiful balcony views. Room is very nice, although tub/shower is on the small side. Driving in is interesting, since you will need to drive down the narrow, ancient, crowded streets of Durnstein between and among the many pedestrians and bikers to reach the hotel parking. It's fine, just go slow and smile. Once you arrive, hotel parking is not bad, we found a spot just a few steps from the main entrance. Staff was very helpful and nice. The hotel restaurant has patio seating next to the Danube which is fantastic. I had the veal shallots, which were very tasty. Breakfast was ok. Not bad, just not great like dinner. Hiked up to the Castle Durnstein ruins (where Richard the Lionhearted held captive in 1192) -- about a 20 - 30 minute uphill walk from the hotel. Not hard core hiking, but fairly steep in a couple of spots. Ruins provide an amazing view of the valley and town below. Definitely have a poppy cake and some gelato or ice cream at one of the town cafes. Also, the town is overflowing with apricot wine and liqueur and nectar (of course), so drink up. Only an hour or so drive (in our rental car) from Vienna. Definitely recommend, we had a great time.

This is a charming hotel, full of character and surprisingly extensive. My room was spacious, beautifully furnished and had a view of the Danube. The hotel is a bit of a maze but that’s part of its charm. The breakfast was extensive and very good.
