A simply beautiful hotel! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The hotel is located in the corner of the wonderful village of Monpazier and is without doubt the best hotel in the area. It is exceptionally well care for and the attention to detail is incredible. After 10 days driving around Europe it was a pleasure to lie by the pool or sit on the terrace in the sunshine before walking into the village for a drink or a bite to eat. The room was lovely with views overlooking the rolling hills behind the hotel. The hotel also has a restaurant attached (which was incredible and deserves a review of its own) and a bistro on the other side of the village. If you are coming to the area I cannot recommend this place enough. We are already planning a return trip later this year.

Just returned from a few days at the fabulous Chateau Hotel Edward 1er, Monpazier. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms, lounges and restaurant are gorgeous, so well designed and looked after by the owners. There is also a lovely outdoor swimming pool. The attention to detail is excellent with lots of little touches to make your stay really special. Isabelle is fantastic, always on the go making sure everyone is happy and has everything they need. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was amazing and the service was first class. We can’t fault anything about the hotel and definitely recommend staying here. Monpazier is a beautiful village and the hotel is a 2-minute stroll from the main village square. A big thank you to Isabelle and her team for making our stay so enjoyable.

My husband and I had 4 amazing nights during our 2 week holiday at this incredible hotel and we will go back just to visit the hotel, the restaurant and the owners! The hotel is gorgeous and the restaurant is the best in town...we ate their on our first and last nights! The owners are warm and welcoming and make you want to return just to say hello. The hotel is in the heart of town and the town is in the heart of the Dordogne region, which is definitely worth a visit!

What a lovely quaint town, two hours east from Bordeaux. Lovely drive as well and then you arrive at this old chateau (castle?) converted into a 17 bedroom hotel with an award-winning restaurant. The room was a lot bigger than I expected and that too with an extra bed for us. The bathroom was also lovely and everything was as good as any other 5 star hotel that I have stayed in. Didn't get to eat a meal at the restaurant except for breakfast as they were fully booked both days. The breakfast was fine with some nice coffee and fresh croissants. They also have a small pool which was very tempting... but didn't spend much time in the hotel as we were our driving every day. I would definitely stay here again if headed to the area. The owners very very friendly and even left us a note with our room key as we returned to the hotel late at night. Given that this is the only 4 star property in the area it does command a premium rate but it's worth it as the rooms also have air conditioners for the hot French summer!

Wonderful stay at Chateau Edward 1er. Isabelle and staff were amazing and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Rooms were stylish and comfortable with an amazing breakfast. We had dinner in the restaurant which was first class and would highly recommend. Also Isabelle is very knowledgeable about the area with lots of recommendations to visit.
