I was ripped off, not to say defrauded, by Trip.com / the hotel. I tried to book through Trip.com. The booking process ended with a message saying that my paypal payment had not gone through. No option to try paying again; the only option available to me was a 'cancel booking' (or similar) button, which I clicked, writing in the open text field that I did not understand why the payment had not gone through.
I then went to Premier Inn directly, and booked through their website. Trip.com proceeded to charge the booking to my paypal account after all, having told me the payment had not gone through. So I had paid for the same stay twice. I asked for one to be refunded, which was refused. Nevertheless, when I got to the hotel, they ony had one room booked in my name - me having been charged twice.
The room was freezing, stank of mould. Windows would not open to get the smell out. Aircon would only blow cold, not hot. At around 1:30 am the fire alarm went off and all guests had to stand outside in the cold for half an hour.
