This hotel is located in an excellent position with great views over the sea. It is close to a modern shopping centre and within close proximity to Funchal. There is a lovely promenade beneath the hotel and the area is quiet compared to the bustling city centre. The hotel offers a shuttle service into the city but it is just as easy to catch the bus from outside the hotel. Another advantage is that the aerobus stops and picks up outside the hotel. The hotel provides lovely comfortable, well equipped and spacious bedrooms with wonderful views. We appreciated, the fridge and the in room tea/coffee making facilities. Our room was tended daily. The hotel was quiet, relaxing and provided a lovely breakfast. The staff were very pleasant, attentive and informative. If you are a non smoker and it's important for you to have a balcony be wary when choosing this hotel as our experience was that smoke from our chain smoking guests in the adjacent room polluted our balcony forcing us inside. It even forced us to close our balcony door as their smoke infiltrated into our room. On a stuffy windless night this was extremely annoying. We complained to the manager who was sympathetic and apologetic. We also made some suggestions to prevent future guests being adversely affected.

We stayed for 14 days in January 25. The hotel was small and very quiet mainly with older couples. We said on a B&B basis and the buffet breakfast with good especially when served on the terrace, (weather permitting). We took advantage of the discount offered for dinner one evening which was varied and good but buffet style again. The hotel needs refurbishing as the rooms and leisure facilities are clean and looked after by the staff, they are a little faded and things such as the TV's and gym equipment need upgrading. Wifi was good.

I’d advise ignore negative reviews (not enough tv channels.. really?) Staff efficient and friendly. Ok there not pleases and thank yous all day long but that’s a cultural thing. Rooms clean breakfast pretty good. Ok there are better hotels in the area Reid’s for example if you have a spare 6K for the week. Lots of great restaurants locally and a nice walk into Funchal. Would recommend

No atmosphere , extremely dated , bathroom with a shower head that constantly leans to one side , no conplimentary water and rations on tea and coffee usage - didn’t know that was still a thing - , have to pay extra for a lockable safe , bar area like a train station waiting room , disappointing really , this was out 3rd time in Madeira in 18 months, probably done with it now
