보보사스 빌리지 바이 아워 마데이라(Babosas Village by Our Madeira)

Best service that I have ever had in a hotel. There are only a few rooms but they are extremely clean and have great views. From check-in to check-out, the service was over the top. We left before breakfast started one morning and the staff prepared a take-way breakfast for us and hung it on our door. My daughter is a vegan and they made specially prepared items for her every day. We ate breakfast and dinner there almost every day of our stay. They customed made anything we wanted for breakfast. Best prices around. Felt completely safe and welcomed. Lots of things to do around the hotel also.

Barbosas village is basically a lovely small apar**ent/hotel with only a few rooms but an excellent restaurant on site. It is sited out of Funchal centre near Monte but don’t let that put you off as it is right next to the cable car to the centre ( and has Taxis or buses if you prefer) … quicker than getting in from the hotel district with thousands of others! The area around has a days worth of attractions before even venturing further away. The in-house restaurant offers excellent meals and the hosts are very generous in showing off their local products. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay.

My husband and I really enjoyed the 9 nights in our comfortable apar**ent in this small hotel high above the city with a view of the ocean from our porch and within walking distance of the beautiful attractions in Monte. It's only a 15 minute drive from Funchal, but be prepared for steep, curvy streets and GPS that is sometimes hard to follow. The staff is really accommodating and personable and the breakfasts are very generous. More options like quiche, French toast, etc. instead of eggs every day would have been nice and we preferred to eat dinners in the city or other villages. There is so much to do on this island and you can drive to all parts of it within an hour. Every day was a peak experience!

Wait staff and housekeeping were attentive/kind & the room was generally clean & nice, however it had a distinctly unpleasant smell. (My son thought it smelled like cat pee; I thought it was mildew.) While staff we met face-to-face were nice, the management company was oddly antagonistic; almost passive aggressive. Also, for a few days of our stay, the hotel was in a cloud/deep fog, whereas down in Funchal, it was generally sunny. A waiter said this was common. TBH - not great value for money.

Absolutely lovely hotel and really friendly staff with superb and generous breakfast. Everyone was really accommodating and helpful during our visit. The room was brilliant with a well equipped kitchenette and dining area/lounge along with a spacious bedroom and en-suite. We stayed over Chris**as 2023 and the staff made our stay over the festive period really lovely. The location of the hotel is a little awkward in that it is up a steep hill and quite far from town. This has its advantages as well as disadvantages; it is quiet and the views are lovely. There is a very convenient bus route (22) that gets you into town and you can also use the cable car. It is however useful to have a car particularly if you are planning to visit other places in Madeira outside of Funchal where you can't really rely on Public Transport alone.

The room is spacious, with a living room and a well-equipped small kitchen. The staff is attentive. An excellent hotel for a longer stay (3 or more days). The location is a bit distant from downtown Funchal. Public transportation is available, but I recommend it primarily for those with a car.

A lovely small hotel situated above Funchal near the main cable car station. The views over Funchal to the sea are very special. Exceptionally friendly, kind and helpful staff. The breakfast is generous and varied. We had a comfortable and well equipped suite which had its own small balcony and a patio shared with a neighbouring suite. There is a useful inexpensive bus #22 that runs from outside the hotel into Funchal. There are a couple of things to be aware of. 1. The hotel is up on the hillside - if the cloud is low, you may be in it. 2. Madeiran roads can be narrow and winding with steep gradients. This includes the route to the hotel. The property sends helpful directions but take it slowly when you approach for the first time. It becomes much easier when you get used to it. I would happily stay at Babosas Village again.

This hotel is up there with the best I have seen. The area is obviously on the hills of Funchal so it's very very quiet. The hotel rooms are spacious and spotless. The breakfast is fresh and amazing. The staff are the friendliest and nothing is impossible. This hotel would pass for a 5 star ⭐ rating in my eyes.... Don't hesitate to book here ...

Better than a hotel with a living room and small kitchen, that is usefull. Welcome with Madeira Wine and fresh bottle of Water every day. Good restaurant with nice terrace allowing mostly having breakfast or lunch/dinner outside.
