The Stafford Lodge

This is just the best place to stay in Sierra Leone. All the staff are really great and the place is very comfortable. In addition to the hotel, Dori, the joint owner, arranged our 16 night tour around Sierra Leone and provided a driver and full time guide. The whole trip was flawless from being collected at the airport by the Aberdeen water taxi rep. Dori and her husband Desmond ensured all trip details were perfectly arranged. Suleiman, her brother in law was our driver for 2 weeks and Bassie was our guide. Bassie was passionate about his country and explained the history so well. Sierra Leone while being a poor country is so interesting and has so much history. We would definitely recommend Dori's travel company, Salone Hidden Gems, to organise your trip to Sierra Leone. We completely recommend the entire team at Stafford Lodge as just perfect.

Whether you're there for a getaway or a Homecoming Ceremony or you have business in the area The Stafford Lodge is the place to stay. Comfortable rooms with breakfast included- you can't beat the price! There's always a welcoming smile waiting to greet you. If you are there to explore, Dori's Salone Hidden Gems, offers tours to all the places you need to see. There is a restaurant, as well as a bar, onsite that offers a true taste of local food. Don't hesitate to try the Groundnut Stew or the Cassava Leaf, you'd be hard pressed to find a better version anywhere! The location is excellent as well. Close to the beaches and bustling downtown markets in one direction and out to Waterloo and the provinces in the other. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. I definitely recommend this place. The owners take exceptional care to tend to guests! Helped me arrange transportation. I will stay here again. Thanks again to the staff and team for making my visit to Sierra Leone a pleasant one. I will be back!

Hospitality was excellent you feel like you are staying in one of the excellent hotels in the USA nothing is missing electricity was excellent there breakfast was excellent. I would definitely go back there and I recommend it to anyone who wants to go there do not hesitate!

Stafford Lodge is home away from home? The staff is amazing!! They were very accommodating and interactive!! I learned so much about the history of Freetown from their tours…especially the Bunch Island tour!! You must take this tour!! Also, the photographer took awesome pictures as we toured the city and villages! The Lodge is in a great location from major attractions. The view was breathtaking as I sat on the balcony relaxing. I would definitely stay here again!! Thanks Dori, Desmond and staff for welcoming me!! I truly appreciate it!!

Having had a wonderful stay here in 2022 I decided to return again this year along with a group of friends. The welcome was just as warm as I remembered it, the aircon just as cold and the bed just as comfortable. As well as staying with Dori, we also used Dori’s tour services: Salone Hidden Gems. She helped me plan a really great 4 day itinerary for my guests and me which included a city tour, a cooking class, a history tour and time on the beach amongst other things. What made the stay special though were the small touches. The gift bag upon arrival, dinner on the first night, staff that couldn’t do enough for us, arranging the money exchange man to meet us at the hotel, bottles of wine, and lifts here there and everywhere. Dori and her team at Stafford Lodge are a real gem and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Freetown!

Stafford Lodge is home away from home! Each staff and cook were professional and friendly, and although I ddidn't know them, they felt like family. The food was AMAZING, the rooms were COMFORTABLE, and customer service was EXCELLENT!To the owners, Desmond and Dori, thank you for being a part of my first visit to the Mother Land (beautiful Salone); the hospitality was unmatched, and I had a great time. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect lodging experience than that of my recent stay at Stafford Lodge. The Turays and their staff provided exceptional service, made me feel right at home in their beautiful lodge, and were very attentive to my needs. The location not only boasts a breathtaking sunrise and sunset view of Freetown, but also provided an indescribable sense of peace. Dori's attention to detail prior to my arrival, throughout my stay, and even with following up after my return home was phenomenal! I look forward to a return visit to Freetown and the Stafford Lodge.
