This was a joint 60th birthday treat from our children. We checked in and received a very warm welcome from the staff, together with a complimentary glass of their Classic Cuvee, made from locally grown Chardonnay grapes. Our room was bijoux but very well appointed with air conditioning and a very modern bath room complete with digitally controlled walk in shower. It was a little confusing booking an evening meal in the hotel online as the 1707 restaurant is not open. We clarified this when we checked in and booked a table at the Wine and Pairing restaurant situated in their own vineyard. This was a fabulous dining experience, which was enjoyed by most of the guests in the hotel. For anyone who enjoys fine dining and wine, this is an essential part of the Quob experience. We were whisked away to the restaurant in the hotel’s Land Rover Discovery. The food was exquisite, starting with a special brioche sharing loaf and an a la carte Beef Wellington. The restaurant was modern, with a similar design to our hotel room. Being on the first floor of the Wine Cellar, we were surrounded by incredible bottles of locally grown and classic World wines. This was not a cheap meal but one of the best we have tasted. Superb chefs and wonderful white glove service made us feel positively regal.
