Casa Cavoquinho

We enjoyed 2 nights at this beautiful hotel in the midst of the Paul valley. Our room, the twin, had window views all round of the valley and it was magical. Set dinners are available with local, tasty food and breakfast was also excellent. The hotel provides filtered water on tap. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This was a very special place to stay, with a number of valley walks available closeby. There is also a friendly cat, Pepper, who is resident at the hotel. On the last day, the staff organised for a collectivo to take us to the ferry terminal.

This small hotel gets it's five stars for its stunning location and the welcome you are given. This is an excellent base for staying and hiking on Santo Antao. The elevation ensures a perfect climate and fabulous views. Dinner is good but simple, with a veggie tendency. Small but adequate choice of drinks which are fair value. Packed lunch available at a modest cost.

We have spent four nights at Casa Cavoquinho. Belen, Jose and their great staff made our stay one of the best in many years. The studio had magnificent views over the Paul valley and was fully equipped. The dinners were a succession of discoveries one evening after another of Spanish and Cabo Verde’s flavours with fine and solid knowledge of cooking. They know how to host people and how to advice them on all trekking options you have in this extraordinary area of St Antao island. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights at Casa Cavoquinho and it was a pleasure that we got the chance to experience this magical place. Located in the middle of the “jungle” of Paul-Valley and the only thing what we did not like was that we had to leave. Sadly, the owners were not there, we knew that before as they were always reachable for any questions and they helped us out on quite a few things (booking changes, transport, …). Jordi, which took over the responsibility of the Casa made us feel more than welcome and we loved this place and this guy from the very first second. Also the other employees were doing an incredible job and the food/dinner we got there was fantastic. It was the perfect place and starting point for some of our hikes and for exploring this beautiful island. Thank you so much for the chance to make those great memories!

Un très agréable séjour de 3 nuits. Merci à Jessy, Olave et toute l’équipe pour leur hospitalité. On a eu une belle chambre avec vue imprenable, très propre. On sert un bon petit déjeuner/repas. Le service attentionné avec e.a. des conseils pour faire des randonnées (presque) sur mesure :-) .

Des hôtes charmants, discrets et accueillants. De bons conseils pour les randonnées. Dîners variés et succulents comme les petits déjeuners. L'appartement très spacieux, très propre et confortable. Un havre de paix en pleine nature.
