I booked Hôtel de l'Orme in Évreux because the town looked quaint and was a good overnight stop-off en route from the UK to Portugal. The hotel was an easy walk into the centre of the town so the location was perfect. There was a buffet breakfast with a good selection of hams, cheeses, pastries, cereal etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. To be fair to the hotel, it is only 3* and it is probably a case of “you get what you pay for” so the following comments should be seen in that light. I had booked two ordinary double rooms for our family (£48 per room) but when I saw my husband’s facial expression on our arrival, I hurriedly got our room upgraded to a “comfort room” which turned out to be one of the refurbished rooms. Our son’s room had older decor and was not refurbished. The corridors were tatty looking; the bedroom doors were chipped; no air-conditioning but it wasn’t that hot so that wasn’t a problem; no hooks in our newer bathroom with walk-in shower for hanging up towels, although my son’s older bathroom (with shower over bath) did have towel hooks. Carpet in son’s bedroom very old looking with blotches. But rooms were clean. And as per normal in continental hotels, no tea or coffee-making facilities in the room. Parking - there is no hotel parking. We stayed over a weekend when the street parking was free. We were lucky and found a spot right beside the hotel. I’m guessing that it might not be so easy during the working week.
