Escalante Golf is only interested in making money for rich people and not allowing owners to enjoy why they purchased property here in the first place. Canada traffic was a huge part of the success for this course when it was semi-private, while also providing the local community with tourism dollars. That will be gone. Don’t buy here. It will die.

We weren’t sure what to expect of this resort deep in the mountains of Montana but when we arrived we were definitely impressed. The cabin we stayed in was beautifully decorated and had an amazing, huge living room, dining area, and big kitchen. Our room was appointed nicely with lovely decor. There was a hot tub right outside our room. We could walk across the road to the golf shop and dining area. The golf shop staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed their merchandise selection. Head pro, Jared Rogers, set us up with a lovely day of golf on their incredible course and gave us lots of information about things to do in the area. Sherry made sure we had everything we needed in our room. Tina in the restaurant was a great representative because she was friendly and professional. The food was delicious. Our only regret is we aren’t staying longer. We can see why this is the #1 golf course in Montana.

Positives: private and beautiful community with paved paths. Access to a pool and stunning views. Peaceful and quiet. Nice rooms. Awesome outdoor activity space for kids. Far away from most things so it’s perfect for relaxing. Water slide was crazy fast and fun but almost dangerous. Negatives: Communication is lacking. The lake was never open which limited our activities. Food restaurant is minimal. There is no traditional hotel service. No room cleaning, no towel service, you must take out your own garbage and retrieve your ice from the kitchen. Our door ac was working but not well. No sidewalks anywhere. No espresso and the office staff was unwilling to help when I called. We did the disc golf course and while it was fun it was a hike without warning and it cost money. Highly recommend getting the common space with a fridge because restaurants are far. Town is quaint. Feels like a lot of money for getting very little.

I was so disappointed. There is no lodge, there is no spa, there is no hotel. You either rent a cabin or you rent a room in a cabin with a separate entrance and share a common room. They don’t tell you this Upon arrival I was pounced on by there realtor. When he found out where I was coming from in Montana he backed off immediately. The staff barely spoke English and the food and service was horrendous as were the prices. The course was ok but not great. The sand traps were cement. The air quality was what scared me the most. Both my partner and I started to feel like we could not get our breath. They are going private so no more Canadian or area golf days. This resort has had many owners and it shows. Don’t waste your time when Whitefish, Kallispell and Fernie are close by.

We had a group of 16 golfers come up for a 2 day golf trip. The accommodations were nice. The grill was closed so there was no food or drink available. What kind of BS is that? After everyone checked in we were told to tee off on #10. Thought it was kind of weird the the supposed #1 golf course would do that for a group like ours, seeing there were hardly any other golfers. When hitting approach shots on 10, we found out why. They had just punched and sanded the greens. I guess the pro shop didn’t think it was important to notify 17 guys when they checked in. Total BS. Not only were they just sanded, but they weren’t even broomed yet. There were piles of sand on the green. Every approach shot hitting the green flew up a puff of sand. Putting was impossible. The course should have been declared unplayable. We left the next morning after we had to drive 10miles to the nearest restaurant for dinner. I wouldn’t have played that course again if it was free. You go to a resort to enjoy, not put up with all the shortcomings. #1 in Montana? Ray Charles must be doing the ratings.

The resort property is beautiful. We were very disappointed to learn that the horseback riding and stables were no longer an activity available on resort and wished this had been indicated somewhere prior to our booking. The cabin was very clean however it was overrun with flies at check-in. It took our entire stay to kill them all which was somewhat disgusting. We also had to go into town to buy our own fly swatter. Our family time was significantly impacted on three separate occasions by the unsupervised young people/ adolescents on the property. I can only guess that guests are coming to the resort then spending the day golfing or otherwise occupied while their spoiled kids run around doing their own thing without adults. Behavior we experienced by one group of pre-teens/teens included swearing, screaming (including racial slurs) for several hours over two days down at the lake. While at the pickle ball courts one evening, we were essentially circled by an unsupervised adolescent female, dressed provocatively, for approximately two hours. We were not the only people who noticed this, it was uncomfortable for everyone. For literally two hours, this person walked around this small area, alone, making strong eye contact. The resort is too small for a family vacation when you're trying to avoid certain areas due to unsupervised young people behaving badly. I would encourage anyone visiting the resort to ask ahead about their policies around guest conduct. Be cautious when asking questions however, management overwhelms easily.
