This was my third stay at the Hampton Inn Bayfront and while the location and property remain worthy of a 5-circle rating, but some flaws on the most recent visit have me scaling that back a bit. Such things become much more difficult to overlook with the high rates that this hotel routinely charges. While I praise this Hampton Inn to high heavens for offering daily housekeeping as the standard (too many hotels aren't these days), they unfortunately failed to clean my room. While all rooms have a water view of some type, I find that the ones facing the ”harbor” are much better than the ones facing the maritime museum. I'll also give the hotel major kudos for having a 12 noon checkout time as the standard. The room itself was of decent size, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and in generally good condition with the exception of a large chunk taken out of the bathtub. The curtains block out morning sunlight quite well. The breakfast is decent. The location of this hotel is one of its best attributes, as it offers a great view of the bayfront area and also is a integral part of the area, including Oliver's Beer Garden (same owner as the hotel) right out the back door and on the water. It's family-friendly (at least until 10 p.m.) and includes a nice miniature golf course. The setting is spectacular and the nearly entirely outdoor space very well done and offering live entertainment on some nights. The beer garden's prices (for both food and drinks) is at the extreme high end for Erie. There are other less expensive options, but not with an environment quite that awesome.
