We stayed one night (HB) after we attended a family wedding. The reception hall is beautiful, the location of the hotel is amazing and the outdoors are very well maintained. Pool is great too. Even the food at the wedding was quiet nice. Dinner buffet was very good. Now for the cons: we stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa (Nelum) and it was just so terrible. Bathroom drains did not work. AC malfunctioned. It’s either switch it off or keep it at the same temp. Had to call engineering at night. The rooms were clearly not cleaned well before we arrived. The smell coming from the shower area was pungent. Breakfast buffet was not that good. Potatoes were raw and chicken curry was still cold and felt like it was straight from the freezer. None of the staff had the courtesy to greet any of us with a simple smile or just pleasantries. Only the girl at the front desk and one older gentleman at the restaurant was friendly. Rest of the staff looked like zombies walking around forced to work there. I asked where the restaurant is and one person stretched his arm and literally said “there”! 🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s a mess to be honest. Even the staff that were at the homecoming function we attended were so dead and acted like they couldn’t wait to get out of there. Not a single pleasant person to be found. It’s a shame because the property is beautiful, location is next level. All you need is a good set of mangers to get things going and get your staff trained to work in hospitality. Do the change if you can because it’s a waste of a good location.

6.32004°, 80.85565° on the banks of the Shandrika tank near the town of Embilipitiya, this hotel was set up as a luxury full-service resort with all the amenities, like swimming pool, restaurant, VIP-room, multiple banquet halls and bar. For restaurants and entertainment, take a tuk-tuk into town. The hotel has seen better days, although cleaning and maintenance are adequate. Like so many hotels in Sri Lanka, there is not logic behind the design: it is maze of hallways, corridors and multiple steps: a wheelchair hell. In March 2024, our room 202 was op the first floor (2F) behind the banquet halls. Fortunately, the party with loud band in the banquet hall finished around midnight. The room had comfortable twin beds and a spare bed, hot bath/shower, television and air conditioning. No Wi-Fi reception in the room. The restaurant offers continental and local breakfast buffet and a la carte dining. The fish and chips (Rs.2850) were mediocre. Centauria Lake Resort is a good resort for a few days. Recommended.

Arrived as part of a tour group with Mercury holidays. We had a lovely room but no patio or balcony, we only stopped one night so didn’t matter too much. The pool area looked nice but didn’t have time to use it. There is a large bar area and the buffet dinner and breakfast was all good.

We spent just one night in this hotel during our holiday. It was wonderful. The services, accommodations, restaurant, location just near the lake… all was there for a great moment. Maybe one negative aspect: the poor Sri-Lankan buffet compare to the asiatic or European.
