Keeping in mind this is a 3 star hotel, the positives are the rooms are big with a balcony looking out at amazing views (ours anyway), and the pool is clean and quite big also with amazing views and a concrete elephant water feature!!! The location of the hotel is pretty good too - far enough from other properties to be quiet but close enough to Ella main drag that you can walk in 10-15 minutes or pay a tuk tuk driver double the rate of Colombo to get to and from. The big negative for us was that despite being told upon checking in that the room would be cleaned every day, it was not. And I was told the reason why was that we didn’t hand in our key for it to be done - which seems bizarre after staying in hotels for decades and not being told to or having to hand in a key in order to get a standard daily room clean. The insinuation that it was our fault for not handing in a key (not that we were told to do so on checking in) was extremely irritating. Food was ok but overpriced so we ate elsewhere (lots of options). There were lots of little things in the rooms that could be easily addressed to make them nicer - definitely not having ripped old bath towels, and removing an empty TV bracket from the wall (like a TV used to be there but not anymore - or was it just our room, who knows). All these little things add up to I really think the room rate is too high - but we are here in the high season so maybe that’s just the going rate.

房間很大，但是半夜十一點沒熱水……在山上，有點潮。下午霧來了啥也看不見了，就在霧裡。距離鎮子上一公里路，但是是山路，沒有人行道。晚上吃完飯回去摸黑走。公交車呼呼從你身邊開過，自己開閃光燈怕她們看不見咱。實話實説，慎重考慮選擇。

The most outstanding view in Ella along with the most friendly and happy staff! We couldn’t believe our luck when we arrived at Misty Hills. Greeted by the manager and owner quite late, they were so accommodating and welcoming. We had the most beautiful room with a bed that was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! The food here is outstanding! If you want traditional Sri Lankan food, this is the place. Everything we ate was delicious. I cannot thank the staff enough, so lovely. But the view is the star of the show!!! Breathtaking!

Hotel situated just off the main road. It was fabulous stay. recently done lot of renovations. comfortable bed. beautiful sun rice in the morning. very good service. very good breakfast. Good looking pool. unfortunately we had no time to dip.

I was staying at the hotel one night, the way to the hotel is a hard and a lot of stairs. Reception looks 200 years old and furniture are teared. The room was full of mosquitoes. I woke up to a bad breakfast which contained old bread . Then went out travel when I came back to hotel at 1700, my girlfriend went to the toilet, when flashed the toilet dozens of bugs came out of it, in addition we had no hot water and even after complain wasn’t fix, and had lizards in the room. Therefore I asked to leave the hotel to a proper one. The owner didn’t agree to hear and after a long fight (more than a hour) and because of help from my local tour guide gave me back 70% of the second night which I didn’t stay, as he said due to check out time is 1200… He was super rude and have no respect to his clients. The manager tried to help but knows bad English and have to listen to his rude owner. In conclusion- worst hotel I’ve ever stay in.

One of the best views of ella are from the balcony of 8 rooms in this resort. Big rooms, big balconies and bathrooms. Staying here involves climbing steep stairs as it is located on a hill with a rivulets passing by next to it. Breakfasts are good. Does not have a full fledged restaurant.
