Hill Farm Stays offers a rustic countryside escape with several notable positives. The food was genuinely enjoyable — fresh, hearty, and thoughtfully prepared — and the communication from the staff was prompt and friendly throughout our stay. The bedroom layout was particularly stylish and very comfortable, offering a cozy place to unwind. However, there were several issues that significantly impacted our experience. Most concerning was the lack of hygiene within the on-site restaurant. While a countryside atmosphere is part of the charm, allowing animals to freely enter dining areas — particularly a cat that mingled with guests during meals — was inappropriate and unhygienic. Additionally, the owner's daughter, who appeared to be in charge of serving alcoholic drinks, was doing so without proper measurements. One guest ordered a vodka and coke and was served a pint of coke alongside two 50ml shot glasses of vodka. This not only lacked professionalism but raised safety concerns. The hot tub and sauna facilities were average at best. Their location — poorly sheltered and situated alarmingly close to a horse barn — made it difficult to relax or feel clean. Unfortunately, due to accumulated dust in the room, I developed an eye infection during my stay, which required antihistamines. The situation was highly uncomfortable, and while the owner acknowledged the issue, no responsibility was taken, nor was any refund or compensation offered. For a hospitality service, I found this disappointing. While the stay had its moments — particularly with food, communication, and room comfort — the hygiene issues and lack of accountability diminished what could have been a much more enjoyable experience. I leave my ratings as they stand, with the view that a partial refund would have been appropriate, but was regrettably not provided

We stayed at Hills view stays for 1 night in their Rustic room. A converted barn . The bed was a king size and comfortable. The bathroom was great with an easy to use shower. Very clean. A small kitchen with a fridge, microwave etc so could be self catering. Close by restaurant with a bar in beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay for both short and long stays. You would need transport as it's in a rural location.

We had a lovely stay at Hill Farm Stays. Steve was very welcoming and was always happy to help us with ideas of places to visit whilst we were there. The room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. The room had a lovely bath in the bedroom and shower in the bathroom. There are tea & coffee facilities and a fridge in the room too. We included breakfast in our stay, which was well worth it - cooked to order, fresh and very tasty. We could have eaten our evening meal there too, but opted to explore the local pubs. The farm is set in a great location and although it does have guests & local residents coming and going, it was very quiet and we were not disturbed at all. This was a lovely place to stay for a 3 night break-away. Thank you!

Arrived here at our arrival time of 5.30pm 11/8/24, reception closed , locked ! Bar - resteraunt locked ! No presence of anybody at the property. Rang phone number on front door five times from 5.40pm - 6pm , no answer ! After travelling for 2.5hrs we had no choice but to try and avail of other accommodation ! This booking was booked directly with the premises. We met a yard worker next door and was told we had a lucky escape not to be entering the accommodation. Ten days before i had the courtesy of calling the property to see if they wanted payment , but they said we have your card details so you can pay on arrival ! £105 was taken from our account the day before arrival, we couldnt even step inside the property and it cost us £105 !!!. We stayed on a beautyfull hotel in Exeter that night . The following day i emailed the property after umpteen unanswered calls ! But yet again no reply . When we returned to Ireland i did manage to talk to a person on the phone who at first would not reconise the booking number! But eventually said he would refund us our money and to forward our bank details which we did and we also asked for a confirmation email on recieving our details, and to this day has never came or the refund ! Surprise . We have emailed most days since. I have never wrote a negative review from any other property in my life , but this warrants one ! I wont write what i would call taking money from someone and not recieving a service. By the way we travelled through the cotswolds,Devon,cornwall and somerset, and we have to say its one of the most beautyful country sides we have ever been in ! Please read reviews before you book this property .

I would warn anyone sharing card details, as I was overcharged by £45 for The Stables and sent evidence to the owner who said he would refund me. However, I have had no money or response. We changed the date of booking by around a week but was not warned the price was any different and I was originally booked for £240. There are some lovely positives but I wouldn't class something as luxury without giving travel toiletries or lovely big fluffy towels. Hand-wash appeared watered down in our bathrooms. Cobwebs and lots of dirt behind beds. Spacious accomodation and well finished kitchen was lovely, I just feel a few details let it down. Food and drink on site appears very nice from our experience and owners friendly, welcoming. The spa looks included on booking but is an additional £50 which I think is scandalous. If I receive the overcharge back I would be happy to amend my review.

Lovely place, lovely area and Steve was really welcoming and helpful. Would definitely come and stay here again. Just a FYI WE came here by mini bus so didn’t have any way of travelling anywhere once we were here. We didn’t realise that there were no taxis in the area so if you’re coming and wanting to go offsite at all make sure to bring your own transport :)
