Pool closed the 4th of July. Front desk closes at 10pm. Sketchy property. My family booked the Sonesta five months in advance. Our plane left RDU at 7:20pm and landed at 8:44 pm. We got our luggage and car then stopped to get a quick bite. We were at the hotel by 10:30pm. When we found the registration office, they were closed with a note on the door saying to “ring the doorbell for after hours service.” Well, the door bell was ripped off the wall. There was an after-hours emergency number that was posted so I called it. I tried 3 times and it went straight to voice mail, but the mailbox was full. Thankfully, I reserved the room online. I called the online agent while my wife continued to try the after-hours number. Our agent answered and attempted to reach Sonesta with no luck. They checked the Sonesta website that said they had 24-hour front desk service. In the meantime, someone answered the phone on the after-hours number. My wife advised that we had a room booked for eight days and the maintenance worker said she would try someone else then hung up. I continued to work with our agent to find a room, last minute, on 4th of July weekend. The maintenance person text my wife and asked our last name which she promptly gave. The maintenance person said they did not have a reservation for that number and to wait until the morning to sort this out. We had nowhere to go. So, we texted back with their reservation number, but she stopped responding to our text. We found out the next day that the front desk simply did not want to come back down to check us in. Our agent tried to find a room for an hour before finding one that would accommodate our family. We made our way to the new reservation. Sonesta never attempted to contact us.
