This Bastide and Hotel oozes charm. The views of the Dordogne River Valley are to die for and the staff was incredible attentive. Our room had a magnificent view of the river from the 3rd floor. The décor was classic French and the bathroom had been fully updated - awesome rain showerhead. There is no elevator but the property more than compensated. BTW - the chef doesn't have a Michelin star but is recognized as a leading French chef and it shows. Highly recommend this Hotel if you aren't married to large vanilla chains.

Excellent 4-night stay at l'Esplanade. We were given a choice of spacious and comfortable rooms and enjoyed the one we picked. Delicious breakfasts, beautifully presented. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and graciously accommodated our needs. Highly recommend!

Drinks and breakfast on the Veranda. Great views. Note restaurant closed Monday and Tuesday. Great alternative recommended and booked for us.

My wife and I stayed here April 26-29. We are so glad we did. The view of the Dordogne valley from our large, comfortable room was breathtaking. On a whim we decided to try the 1/2 board for our 3 nights. It was an excellent decision! The food was superior to most of the restaurants we ate in France over a three week trip. The service was exceptional. What an experience eating Michelin quality food while overlooking the vast verdant Dordogne valley. I should also mention that hotel prices were a screaming bargain. This place is an absolute treasure and a one of a kind experience. I highly recommend it.

The receptionist Celeste was our first point of contact and she was exceptional in making us welcome and offering to help make dinner reservations. This turned out to be essential as Domme is a small town with many places closed on Sunday & Monday. But for us, it was a wonderful experience in every way. Our room looked out over the Dordogne river from high up on the cliff. We loved the terrace for late-afternoon drinks, and we ate at Auberge de la Rode, which we highly recommend.

This is my second stay at this unique and wonderful hotel. After reviewing over 450 hotels and restaurants, I only give 5 star reviews to those that are truly exceptional in some way. Here I rated both the hotel and restaurant as 5* for the first time ever. This is owing in part to its amazing cliff top location on the edge of Domme overlooking miles of the Dordogne Valley several hundred feet below (perfect for watching the hot air balloons rise over the hills at dawn. It is owing in part to the amazing half board dinner with three courses of amusement bouche before the entree, between the entree and wonderful plant and after dessert when one was already satiated. But it is owing mostly to the warm welcome of our host and her ever present furry sidekick. I will return again and again and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.
