Le Rayon Vert - Hôtel & Restaurant Vue Sur Mer

We felt that we were a nuisance when we arrived at 1.30 on a Sunday. We knew we were early for checking in but we were hungry and wanted some lunch so we’d kept our luggage in our car so that we could eat. Upon arrival we were told in no uncertain terms that check in wasn’t until 2.00 and when we said we wanted to eat first we were told there were no tables. However somebody left so we took their table. There’s no porterage so we had to struggle down a very steep slope with our luggage, I’m 80 and my disabled friend is 73. My friend asked for a small jug of milk to take to our room as we had brought a kettle plus tea and coffee with us, there being nothing in the room and she was charged €1 for it. One morning we had an early start as we were doing some bird watching and being picked up at 6.45 so we asked for a couple of sandwiches to take with us as we left before the breakfast started and got back after it had finished. We were told No but on departure we’d been charged €12 for it even though we didn’t get it and had paid for bed and breakfast anyway. There were no toiletries in the bathroom just some shower gel in the shower room. Would not recommend even though the grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the rooms are clean with a comfortable bed. Food also very mediocre. We definitely felt they did not like the English and apart from one member of staff, a very nice and helpful gentleman who spoke some English, we were not made to feel at all welcome.

Perfect location with a gorgeous garden and views. Lovely traditional bedrooms and a fantastic breakfast . Everything here is authentic and a perfect hostess. We love it .We arrived by taxi and used the local buses which were better than we expected and very cheap .Eating and drinking in nearby Ferry was very good but we didn’t rate the nearby Hotel Rayon Vert . I travelled here as an independent traveller with a friend following a huge following of the British ,over the series Death in Paradise. Le Rayon Vert was a fabulous place to stay . The rooms were very private with each having a very picturesque terrace overlooking the garden and the local bay . They were spacious with a great wet room area , large bathroom and a reasonable sized fridge . Rooms were exceptionally clean with beds made up every morning.Sheets and towels were replaced every few days . The public area which consisted of a communal area of restaurant, bar, pool area was very spacious. The included breakfast was very good , plenty for every taste . There was always a different member of staff on duty each morning. Billy was fantastic and very friendly but there was a blonde lady who refused to make the effort with us , we always joked , she hates the English !! I think she was just miserable ! We ate at the hotel restaurant on one evening only . I found it to be exceptionally expensive for an average meal . We observed that although predominately French speaking , our attempts at French language as English speakers were ignored and shut down . No interest from the young to engage or learn from other cultures despite our best efforts. Many reviews make mention of the need for a hire car . I beg to differ ! We managed with taxis , pre booked and trips organised from the UK in advance. We spent about £300 in total in taxis over 12 days . Significantly cheaper than a hire car for 12 days I think. We had a fantastic stay but previous reviews mention a lack of genuine warmth from the owners .. I have to stay that I tend to agree with this comment . Whilst we were always greeted with a Bon Soir from the owners , it was felt to be a generic comment with little sincerity . I would definately stay again but I am an independant traveller who likes to do her own thing , as does my friend . If you are looking for a place to stay with support from your hosts , this may not be the place for you .

We loved everything about villa rayon vert! Isabel, the owner, made sure our stay was perfect. We do not speak French well so she recommended and then booked restaurants for us and found us the best places to dive and snorkle. Every night she would make cocktails and put out snacks. She is fun, warm, informative and helpful. Plus the view, pool and hot tub makes this place beautiful and relaxing. It’s close to town with many restaurants but very private and peaceful. And the included breakfast was a feast. I would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone.

Agréable séjour au Rayon Vert, à proximité de la réserve Cousteau et de ses spots de plongée … Très belle vue sur les Caraïbes depuis la piscine et la salle de restaurant Demi pension avec cuisine créole savoureuse Chambres avec belle vue mer, simples dans l’agencement (salle de bain vintage, éclairage un peu faible) et la décoration mais confortables et avec une bonne literie . Personnel à l’écoute et très bon accueil

Cet hotel est un vrai plaisir même pour quelqu'un du métier. Il est non seulement agréable avec de belles chambres vue mer, lit très confortable mais très très bien entretrenu (pas facile avec les embruns et l'humidité de la région), propre, pas une peinture écaillée, le jardin impeccable. Le personnel est adorable et souriant. Christelle la patronne n'hésite pas à vous donner les bons plans et bonnes adresses pour votre séjour (atelier du chocolat chez Gwacaco, balades en bateau avec Naël Soleil excursions...). Bref j'y ai passé une semaine très agréable. Je recommande vivement
