Well, where to start - positives : it’s a beautiful building, well maintained, cleaning staff are brilliant all communal areas are spotless and rooms cleaned perfectly. SOME staff are charming and very friendly Negatives : not allowed to use pool until 10:00!? Breakfast timings were moved to 08:00 - not conducive to early golf. So we had to rearrange our golfing schedule to fit breakfast in. Breakfast, fresh fruit, tinned fruit and yogurts, cereal, sweet pastries etc. Hot food selection extremely poor, scrambled eggs made from liquid egg out of a large bottle (kitchen staff brought it out to show us) the bacon is mechanically processed meat (again shown to us in its original packaging) “English sausage” poor quality very little meat, no cooked mushroom, tomato. There is 1 cooking station for fried eggs, omelettes, pancakes, etc. We had to wait for chef to emerge from kitchen on many occasions. Some staff were delightful others not so. Cold selection was very highly processed cold meats and cheese. Given the blurb from the restaurant menu “created using only fresh and nutritionally balanced ingredients, Elba Palace vitel cuisine dishes contribute to optimal health and wellness” which is certainly not our experience at breakfast! Had dinner in the restaurant once. Of the 8 rice/pasta dishes 6 were vegetarian, 1 was lasagne and 1 was paella which had to be ordered 24 hours in advance. We found it to be quite an expensive menu. There is more choice in caletta de fuste. Golf : it’s low season so the course not busy. The shop is well stocked. Again , some staff are very friendly, others not so. Nice course, interesting holes, wind is the enemy!! We haven’t used the shuttle bus service as we’ve walked both to caletta de fuste and Salinas for dinner most evenings. Not sure why anyone would stay here unless they are golfers?
