Ecolodge K'Arasirca

Isla del Sol turned out the perfect place to unwind for a few days. The location of K’Arasirca could not have been better as it is away from the harbour town and breathes peacefulness and tranquility. Our room (so large) was extremely comfortable (absolutely LOVED the mattress & pillows), with our own gas heater, warm solar shower, tasteful decorations, good-working wifi, and incredible views from the bed over Lake Titicaca. The sunrise was spectacular from the room and our host the most kind and helpful when it came to our questions regarding boat transfers etc. to the lodge from Copacabana. We love the fact that the lodge is a locally-owned and family-run business and appreciated all the tips about where to go for hikes and which ruins to visit. We spent 4 nights on the island and that was just perfect to take it all in without the rush. Highly recommend this lodge and would return in a heartbeat!

This is a small family business, just getting started. We were told they have been open for less than a year. They are trying to maintain historical and eco-friendly building practices while recognizing the needs of travelers. The lodging is quaint, comfortable and very clean. The views are absolutely spectacular. We stayed here for two nights in June and the nights were pretty chilly. Extra blankets and space heaters were provided. Breakfast is included and we opted for dinner one night (you need to let them know ahead of time). Quality of the meals and service was on par with any nice restaurant in the area. For an extra price, they will also arrange for a local archeological tour. This was well worth the price. You do need to have a base level of fitness to explore the island. Overall, I cannot say enough about the attentive service and individualized experience that was provided.

Para chegar ao K'arasirca não é tão simples: vindo de La Paz, são 4h de ônibus, mais 1h30 de travessia de barco desde a cidade de Copacabana e ainda tem o percurso que precisa ser feito a pé na própria ilha, caminhando a 4.000 de altitude. Porém, todo o esforço logo é recompensado quando você se depara com aquela vista, que é mesmo de tirar o fôlego. Além da incomparável beleza do lugar, vale destacar o conforto das instalações dos quartos, limpos, novos e cheios de detalhes na decoração que fazem toda a diferença. A comida preparada no restaurante é caseira, deliciosa e super em conta. Como se não bastasse tudo isso, a hospitalidade do querido Ramiro, que cuida da administração do ecolodge e lá faz de tudo um pouco, fizeram desta a nossa melhor estadia em uma viagem de duas semanas entre Chile e Bolívia. Já estamos recomendamos o local para os nossos amigos e desejamos todo o sucesso do mundo para Ramiro, sua família e equipe!
