The hotel looked lovely in the website photos, ideal position two minutes walk from the Main Street but on a quiet square with plenty of free parking outside. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. At breakfast, service again was excellent, though the only hotel to not offer a cold buffet option. But, this was one of four hotels we stayed in during our Ireland road trip and the most expensive and sadly we all felt didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The main reception area, breakfast room and bar were lovely but the corridors and rooms themselves felt as if they had been given a quick “trendy” interim makeover but without the quality of finish and attention to detail needed to be truly classed as a boutique hotel. We loved the idea of the colourful quirky bedroom decor shown in the photos but whilst a brightly coloured feature wall behind the bed was very attractive, the curtain pole was broken so the curtain kept dropping off, some of the furniture looked as if it had kept from a previous room style and the mattresses felt well used. A boutique hotel bedroom should have those little quality details, thoughtful touches that make it stand out and unfortunately this didn’t. Overall we felt the price didn’t quite match the offering but we did receive excellent service from the staff.
