Hotel U Růže

If you are going to stay in Slavonice, this is the hotel to book. It's a small hotel run by a charming hotelier. He owns 30,000 bottles of wine and has a wine cellar in an underground tunnel. Ask for a wine tasting. You will not experience anything else like it. We stayed in Room 12 on the third floor, which can accommodate a family, although we were only 2. Has sleeping for 5, a kitchen, etc. Note that the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor, but they brought up our suitcases. We ate both nights at this hotel and the owner's other hotel/restaurant and they were each elegant gourmet meals (we were with a group, so we did not order from a menu). Breakfast was also nice. A break from crowded buffets in large hotels. Just a unique old world experience.

Here with OAT travel 2 nights,we were the sole guests. Fun experience, dined here one evening as a group also. First hotel ever in Europe where the room safe is on an upper shelf easy to see and reach and with easy printed directions! Owner Pavel is a bit formal but has a sweet manner about him and is rightfully proud of his place. …and his wine collection. Slavenice is quiet and with about 3000 residents, much 20th century history.

Mr Paul is the owner, a lovely gentlemanly man with an air of elegance and a deep commitment to providing quality accommodations, delicious food, outstanding service AND the most fabulous wine cellar under his hotel...a 16th Century wine cellar stocked with every imaginable wines from nearby vineyards. A definite highlight. He also owns another restaurant nearby which was also delightful.

This place is so quiet and peaceful. My room was large and comfortable. An included kitchenette made a big difference in my stay, what a plus! Everyone was friendly and accommodating, especially, the couple who manage this place.
