The location is amazingly located with beautiful views. For the rainy days it is super comfy to just hangout in the beautiful house and it's spacious living room. The fact is has to be absolutely highlighted!! The breakfast and dinner ist outstanding quality and for the prices just incomparable. The stuff is super nice and supportive. A perfect hide away experience! Thank you!

Boutique hotel sounded like a good idea until we had to take an extremely dangerous road to reach the place with very limited parking spots. Our room did not have Air conditioning, not even a fan and the room was very warm. Opening the window connected you with the noisy road right at the window and leaving you completely exposed to anyone climbing in the room through the window. The front desk lady was rude, and did not even offer any accommodations to make our stay bearable and so we had to leave and book another hotel. If you want to go for a very steep adventure, risk not having a parking and sleeping in a room with no ventilation, air conditioning or a fan the this might be your place.

Absolutely fantastic! Perfect location, fabulous staff! Clean and modern rooms. Fresh and tasty breakfast. Free wifi ,free port at reception,which was a brilliant touch. Was lovely to watch the people go by,from the window and we could listen to the local music too. Everything was accessible within a minutes walk. We will be back! Right on the Main Street

We took it for our last two nights to relax and enjoy stunning ocean views from the pool and the balcony. We spent one whole day doing nothing but swimming, having sauna, drinks and the dinner at Villa Alta and it was simply fantastic. After 5 days driving around the island it was really nice to laid back over there and doing nothing but relaxing. The villa is charming and has a character, every room there has its own style, whether it is bar, main lounge with chimney, restaurant or your own room. It makes you want to spend some time in each area and feel the a**osphere. There is a honesty bar where you serve yourself with local drinks and leave notes what you consumed. Basically, the whole idea is built on trust, so you can feel like you stay at your own house. It is simply cool, I wish there would be more hotels like this. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, ladies helped us to feel maximum comfort and were very attentive to our requests. Breakfast is reach and tasty, every day they offer something new, which is good. You can book dinner in advance as well, there is a menu for every day so you can decide whether you dine there or going somewhere else. Dinner is simple but tasty, we were satisfied. We would be happy to come back one day and experience the highest hospitality and kindness of the people working there for you. We had a great time, thank you, Villa Alto! In our room was a carpet which I would throw away as it has stains and dirty spots, it ruins a bit an impression of a room in general which is stylish and has a character of old times. Jacuzzi in the pool area was out of the order. We called the phone given at the reception and on the webpage 4 times during the day and only on 5th time somebody answered later in the evening. Do not wait that somebody will come down to the reception if you ring the bell, ladies have lots of work and simply cannot come immediately, better go and find them, it will be faster. Getting there is not the easiest way but it worth it after all, roads are quite steep, so you better be careful, not driving too fast. Parking is small and requires some skills to getting in and out. Maybe easier to leave your car outside. Best way to rent a car with automatic gear, yes, you pay more but trust me, it will save you so much nerves driving at Madeira. It will pay off in the end. Enjoy your stay!

Villa Alto was the perfect choice for my work-cation. The staff is absolutely incredible. Your room is cleaned daily, the managers are extremely helpful, and you have a private chef. Between the sweeping mountain & ocean views and the community aspect of staying at the hotel, this booking is a no-brainer for you. There is no wifi in the rooms to encourage meeting your fellow guests. I am from the US and I met people from multiple different countries. The breakfast in the dining room is absolutely to die for. The wide selection of items is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. In the summertime, you can enjoy a drink the pool. The sunsets here are also breath taking. I will be booking again!

We stayed at Villa Alto for three nights. The hotel is located quite up on hill from Ponta da Sol. Our junior suite had perfect view, room itself was spacious and clean. Breakfast was good and service was excellent. Poolside had also great views, in February we didnt swim tho. Beautiful Madeiran Quinta, recommended!

Quaint and just lovely. The restaurant has no menu but you get what they offer you on the day. It feels homemade which is nice. The view is excellent and the area is gorgeous. The room lacked vacuuming and was a bit worn, but no big deal. There are beautiful walks in the area - we easily made do without a car.

We truly enjoyed our stay here. We had a spacious room on the first floor with a beautiful view on the ocean and the surrounding villages. The hotel is a beautiful old villa with nice old furniture and lots of paintings and art as decoration. It all has an authentic feeling, which we liked. The staff, even tough they weren't there when we checked in, were really helpful and tried to get everything done what we asked. The manager, André Gonçalves gave many tips of things to see and do in Madeira, restaurants and bars to visit, Stuff about the rules regarding Covid on Madeira. He literally did everything he could to make us have a good time there and aswered fast if we sent him a message. Only good words to be honest! He's also a photographer, so if you're in to that, ask him about his work ;) The breakfast was good. Fresh fruit and vegetables every day, every couple of days a new kind of cake, pasteis de Nata, good coffee, ... More than enough variety for myself personally. Gabriela, the lady in charge of breakfast and cleaning, was really friendly and the room was always cleaned very well. One thing that needs be addressed, is the fact that there is some maintenance needed on the building. Paint coming off the walls here and there, the plumbing can use an upgrade, and more sockets would be useful.. They recently bought the hotel and they told us they're working on it and there was a guy working in other rooms every day when we were there. One another thing to keep in mind is that if you go in the wintertime, the room can get a bit chilly in the evening. There was electric heating. Overall a loverly place and i would recommend it!
