I'll summarise. We were a party of 10. Our organiser asked if vegan options were available when arranging our lunch as I wouldn't have joined them if there was no vegan meal. I ordered a soup for a starter and 4 others had fishcakes. I never received my soup. The main meal came in dribs and drabs and we had to ask for sauces as we weren't asked. A small bowl of vegetables (hardly enough for 5, let alone 10) was set at the far end of the line of tables. A single small bottle of water was provided and the server stated he had brought the water when more was asked for. I paid for my partner and I at the end. She had fishcakes for a starter and we each had what amounted to 3 small flat mushrooms with a bit of ratatouille on top. That came to £40. We left to go home so I could get something to eat.

The location and food here is excellent. Unfortunately the service wasn’t very good - we had reserved a table for lunch which was in the main pub area rather than the restaurant area. This isn’t a problem, but it seemed the staff forgot about us and we had to go up and find them to order after waiting quite a while, and had to do the same to order desserts (even after asking one of the stuff who came past our table and cleared our plates). Typically I do not leave reviews, but hopefully this will ensure others aren’t forgotten about when not seated in the main area.

Nice place, menu a tad limited if you enjoy cruelty free dining. Service good, a little expensive but proper food not cheap bar food. Nice village pub opposite a small village green. Need more vegan friendly dishes please. Will give it another go.

We recently celebrated our daughters 40th birthday, with a meal at the Crown. From contacting Xin to make an inquire about booking a meal, and actually having the meal was first class from start to finish. Xin and her team were absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them, they went out of their way to accommodate us. We were made to feel very welcome on the day of the meal, from being able to decorate the room in the morning, and having the meal in the evening. The food was served with a smile and a willingness to meet anything we wanted. We would highly recommend!

Xin and her staff went out of their way to make my daughter’s wedding reception outstanding. We were a party of 18 and most of us stayed in the accommodation, the rooms were clean spacious and very comfortable. We took over the restaurant which had been set up beautifully for the meal. The food was delicious and the staff allowed enough time in between courses for the speeches. There was a good choice of breakfast. Overall we all had an amazing time….Thank you!

Beautiful location, very quiet little village. The hotel room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
