I don’t recommend this place for a relaxing weekend. We had a bad experience at the swimming area. The hotel sells memberships to external visitors, and they occupied almost all the seats, leaving no space for hotel guests to sit and relax.

Stayed two nights early August during ‘soft opening’ of the rebuilt Hotel Normafa in Buda Hills, 20 minutes by bus from downtown (also parking available) located near Children's Railway, lookouts and many 'gentle' walking trails. More an adult hotel with full spa, sauna, jacuzzi and pool all year round, with friendly service. Stayed in Standard Queen Room, first floor, facing garden and pool (on front or entrance side rooms have balconies), quiet due to carpeted floor (as are the hallways), comfortable bed, mini fridge, flat screen tv (inc. YouTube, mirroring and browser), aircon fine, can open windows, curtains can black out light, kettle, water etc. and robe plus slippers for spa pool area (think room service is coming soon). Breakfast was very good, many light and healthy options from fresh orange juice, beetroot & green detox juices, standard hot fair inc. omelettes, mushrooms, bacon etc.; Bircher muesli, fruits, a variety of breads, cold cuts and of course coffee and teas. Same dining area (roof can open too), terrace and lounge area can also be used during the day, few if any local choices outside, while the restaurant & bar runs from 12.00-21.00 with e.g. wine by the glass from EUR2.50 and a menu focusing on light and healthy Hungarian, European and some Asian cuisine. Soups, starters, main courses and desserts with main courses EUR 15-30 includes vegetarian choices; one had roast corn chicken dish with fruit pudding and following evening green salad and breaded cricket with a generous portion of sweet potato chips or wedges, with a couple of glasses of local wine. When fully open, appears there will be a closed and open grill area out the back, and an enclosed entertainment dome out the front, for all year round.

We booked 2 rooms for our wedding preparations in this hotel 5 months before the event due to the location which is really dear to us. One large, superior room was meant for the afternoon preparations and one deluxe double room for the night. In the initial booking we have indicated that we will be a party of 10 people during the day as the hairdresser and the make-up artist are also coming with the dear parents and siblings. We got confirmation from the Hotel in an email that this is OK. My fiancée sent a reminder email for them one week before the wedding for which she received a reply from the Hotel where they cancel our reservation. Speaking to the front desk receptionist we realised that they want us to book 4 rooms as they don't allow more than 4 people in one room to stay (I wonder how they manage bigger families) and offered that she can prepare for her wedding by the pool (LOL). I imagine her make-up and hair would be wonderful..just like the atmosphere preparing for the most important day of her life surrounded by hairy guys in speedos and jumping children in the pool. The Hotel could have found many elegant and nice alternatives for a compromise if they really wanted to however it was already a difficult one to come back from this greedy decision to scam the wedding couple one week before the wedding..but they didn't. No offer whatsoever. Total disappointment which is already known by the wedding crowd. This gamble won't pay off as instead of accepting our money they decided to risk for more. Instead, now 120 people know about this and will never recommend it to anyone. Budapest is a small place where it's easier if you act nice.

This hotel is lovely and we had a great time during our stay. If you don't want to eat in the hotel in the evenings (vegetarian buffet), then there are couple of food options nearby but be mindful that Mondays seem to be very quiet with a lot of places closed. You are able to get the bus right outside the hotel in to Budapest in 20 mins. Very easy and convenient to do. Uber's are also easy to get. It was a nice balance between city break and relaxation - just what we wanted.

My sister and I came here for the Kundalini retreat. The hotel is immaculate. Welcoming. Peaceful and wonderful. Pillows a little soft for our liking but clean rooms. Great hairdryer and amenities. Staff are all very friendly. Sauna and jacuzzi are perfect. The retreat itself was amazing. 4 days of eye opening yoga with the best teachers. Gabor, Ezther and Kinga. We would so highly recommend this retreat and hotel.
