Outside looks great but very disappointing inside , tired decor . Towels in en-suite as thin as tea towels . Grout on bath in need of major repair only had an old hand shower , cheap miniature toiletries . No cups or glasses in room no tea or coffee facilities . Cheap pillows and hard bedsheets , not what you would expect from a Chateau. Booked for 2 nights but checked out after one .

Apart from the food, our experience of this 3 * hotel was average. Admittedly we only went to this Chateau because of the chef, whose food we had experienced before. And as expected the food, choice, presentation and taste was excellent. We had a Superior Suite, but apart from the space, it was not very superior. Not the most comfortable suite, 1 easy chair available in a suite for up to 4 people. Not even a bottle of water provided. The bath was run for 10 minutes, less that 100mm of water in the bath. We appreciate the chateau is 600 years old, but the price was far more than I would have been willing to pay for this accomdation, had I known what was offered.

Just had 3 days at this wonderful chateau.Stayed in room 14 which was huge with fantastic views and an enormous bathroom. If you are expecting 5 star decor and air conditioning then look to stay somewhere else. The hotel is a wonderful old building with all the quirks that come with an old building, luckily the heatwave had passed so the room temperature was fine. Staff were attentive and friendly and the room was good value. Breakfast was perfectly adequate as a self serving buffet. Dinner was pricey but fine although we only ate there once as we prefer to eat in Brantome. The hotel grounds are very pleasant and would certainly be happy to stay there again. Would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

4 months ago, my fiancé and I decided to plan a wedding in France. We didn't know where, just that we wanted a castle where all our guests could stay. A google search led me to Château de La Côte. Though more remote than initially expected, it by far exceeded our expectations. The grounds were simply stunning and the rooms charming. The food was INCREDIBLE. We were never hungry (I was afraid the portions would be a bit small for the typical American appetite, but not at all). The staff was lovely and helpful as the majority of us were non-French speakers. Some guests were initially concerned as it was July and being that it's a castle, there's no a/c, but the rooms had great cross-breezes and some even had fans. My only complaint is that we weren't able to stay longer. This was a truly. memorable experience for everyone who was there and I hope that some day we can all make it back.

The Chateau looked impressive on the outside and promised a 5 star experience. Other positives were cleanliness, pleasant staff and great views. Unfortunately, these were outweighed by the negatives and we couldn't wait to move on especially with the high temperatures at night. Our second floor room had a bed and some antique furniture but little else :- No handles on some of the drawers so I had to hook something in the key holes to pull open, No kettle, No fridge, No water, No standing shower or curtain, No fan or aircon, thin budget towels, only two tubes of shampoo for a three night stay and a ban on bringing any drinks or food to the room. For me, one of the most unforgivable sins was the uPVC windows. Most of the facilities had codelocks fitted which, in such a remote area, seemed unnecessary. A wonderful location to visit with much interesting history and beautiful countryside but the Hotel Chateau de La Cote was a disappointment.

What a lovely place! The staff was most charming and the restaurant is top notch. Food arrived looking like a piece of art on a plte and tasted heavenly. Highly recommended for couples and families alike!
