We stayed one night at King’s Sanctuary – JLR and were pleasantly upgraded to the Maharaja package. Special thanks to the team for calling us when we lost our way—there’s a long no-network patch and Google Maps wasn’t reliable, so that call really helped. Check-in was smooth, and lunch was served immediately—local, simple flavors, neither too spicy nor oily. Our upgraded cottage, accessed via golf cart, was spacious with a living room, bedroom, balcony, and a comfortable roll-away bed for the third guest. The bathroom was clean, and the outdoor bathtub was a nice touch. However, the cottage showed visible signs of wear—cracked walls, old curtains, worn-out furniture, and gaps in doors that could let insects in. Fixtures worked but felt dated. The space deserves a much-needed upgrade to align with current expectations. The indoor games room also looked neglected—better to maintain it well or not offer it at all. Dining was a highlight. Dinner stood out, especially for the non-veg spread, and the vegetarian options were equally flavorful. Darshan and Darshan J at Golghar were warm and attentive. The dining area would benefit from better lighting, fans or ventilation, and mosquito control. The safari to Nagarhole was enjoyable—we saw elephants, gaurs, deer, and more. The 20 km stretch to the park gate is under repair and very bumpy, and the drive is quite fast—guests should be prepared. One binocular shared among all guests was limiting; ideally, one per group should be provided. Wi-Fi was patchy in rooms but stable at the dining area. The property manager shared that the resort is a great birdwatching spot, which we appreciated. Final Thoughts: A peaceful retreat with great food and hospitality. With better upkeep and room upgrades, it could be a truly standout jungle escape.
