Superb staff and customer service and lovely food. Grounds and buildings are brilliantly kept and access to the beach is quiet and private. The train proved to be a lovely feature. The beach is quiet and the sea warm. We loved it and will return. Chamod and Niluksha made our stay.

Our first stay at Villa Bentota and a really wonderful experience. We had the Mohotti Suite which was the original walauwa on the property. Designed by Geoffrey Bawa the hotel and grounds provide a beautiful environment for relaxing and enjoying the great service ,food and pool. A bar set up on the beach at sunset made for a perfect place for a pre dinner cocktail. Highly recommend a stay here if visiting Bentota. Geoffrey Bawa's garden is just across the street and Bevis Bawas "Brief Garden" is a 10 minute drive. Both worth visiting.

We stayed here for three night in the middle of February and it was so relaxing the food was very nice loved the room slept very well. The staff was very nice couldn’t do enough for you it was nice and quiet until the train came past which I loved. Will come back

Our recent stay at Villa Bentota will stay with us forever. It was one of those places that hit every single high note for what we wanted. It is the embodiment of heritage boutique - the design and architecture by Geoffrey Bawa is unique and delivers interest wherever you turn.  The service is outstanding. It is clear everyone works as a team and strive to ensure guests are happy and want for nothing. All Villa Bentota personnel were professional, friendly, attentive and efficient. They appeared to take great pride in being employees of the hotel. Our room, suite 4, was delightful. Roomy, clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. We loved our huge balcony overlooking the gardens, coconut palms, and of course, the railway line. Loved the railway line - a real feature! The food and drinks, and accompanying service, is excellent. Yes, you pay a bit more for the restaurant meals and bar drinks, but everything about Villa Bentota is an experience and the rewards are in the staying there. Breakfast is fresh, great in variety, and prepared to order. My wife is coeliac and was provided with gluten free bread and all meal ingredients were carefully checked before being served. Ruwan and his food and beverage team were wonderful, with incredible attention to detail at all times. Thank you to the whole team at Villa Bentota. You made for a very memorable stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here. The staff were excellent & friendly. Our room (suite 6) was very comfortable & quiet, situated at the far end. The property had several zones, beautifully furnished for relaxation. The pool area was wonderful with good sized shady umbrellas & large towels. Cold water was brought to us regularly. The shop was actually very interesting with local art & handicrafts & we did buy a few souvenirs! Breakfast was delicious & well worth ordering Sri Lankan curry & hoppers the night before. The dinner menu was a little limited but we enjoyed all our meals, especially the curries. We enjoyed the individuality of the hotel & the train running through the bottom of the garden didn’t worry us at all-it was fun to see local people going on their journeys. We only walked on the beach once. It was beautiful but the humidity & heat kept us near the pool.

This was our 8th hotel during a month long trip to Sri Lanka. We had high expectations for Villa Bentota and were very excited about our 5 night stay, having recently stayed at 3 different boutique style hotel/villas, all with outstanding personal service. Villa Bentota never quite met our expectations nor the previous service levels that we had received during our trip. The property and grounds are stunning, as well the beach which is just across the train track at the bottom of the gardens. The rooms are lovely and the linens etc. are all of a high quality, including the beds ( we slept well). The food and beverage is a bit pricey compared with other hotels in Sri Lanka, but comparable to international rates. There were a few things which were more than double the price of other SL hotels we visited. We found the breakfast and dinner a little disappointing for various reasons given our very high expectations. We tended to gravitate towards the beach each day, rather than the pool area. The Villa has two sun beds on a fairly deserted stretch of beach. We did ask the Villa team to put on the sun pads each day, to make things a little more comfortable. The Villa has a small beach bar that operates for sun downers from 5pm to 7pm, again it's quite pricey when compared against the neighbouring properties beach bars. There is no refreshment service on the beach from the villa outside the sundown hours, however there are neighbouring beach bars fairly close that we used during the day. Like the property the beach is stunning . Service from the Manager was excellent when we asked him for anything, it was dealt with immediately. We did experience quite a few small service shortfalls during our stay. The Villa has enormous potential to be really something special.

My family and I had a delightful three-night stay at this villa in Bentota. The villa exudes warmth with its beautiful interiors, two spacious pools, and stunning beachfront with very few people around. The unique sight of the train passing by adds to its charm. Breakfast was perfect, and we also enjoyed the lunch and dinner services. The staff was incredibly friendly, going above and beyond to ensure our vacation was enjoyable. A special shoutout to Dinesh, who was exceptionally kind, helpful, and friendly throughout our stay.

Beautiful villa , great food . Friendly service Chamod and Chamdima were amazing Imalsha also very helpful Dineth was lovely . We have been travelling for 2 weeks . This was by far the best service and a great spot to relax before flying home to Australia . Highly recommend

We spent 5 very pleasant days here at the end of our tour of the country and thoroughly enjoyed the extremely welcoming beachside location with onsite swimming pool and beautiful gardens. The rooms are well decorated and maintained with very attractive views across the gardens towards the beach (which is behind the treeline and a two minute walk across the railway track). Large bathroom, room and balcony. We had room 7. The restaurant provides good quality food, although quite pricey compared to local restaurants and also the menu was the same each night and could do with a bit of variation. Breakfast is served in the rear garden area and was very good. Service all round was attentive. They even decorated our room on the night of my wife’s birthday and provided a birthday cake as a surprise. Thank you for this much appreciated gesture.
