Ava Resort Cancun - All Inclusive

We had an excellent trip to the AVA Resort in Cancun Mexico! Its a newer resort that still has to iron out some of the finer points, but the food and the service by many individuals was amazing. I'd like to recognize a few of those: Rodrigo and Angel who work as bellboys. Very friendly and super helpful. They made our trip fun. Josue at the COPAL Mexican restaurant went above and beyond and made us feel special. He suggested some amazing food choices for us and had the chef make a few extra special dishes. He became a real friend to us over the course of our stay. Ivan (Sommelier) he visited us at several restaurants and recommended some amazing wines. He went above and beyond to make us feel special. A genuinely friendly person! Roger and Luis, bartenders and the Cocktail Bar. These guys were amazing, super talented and friendly. They made us laugh! They know how to make great drinks! Lalo, David, Brito wo worked at the poolside service. Very friendly and very quick to make sure we had all that we needed. We loved joking around with them! Cristian who worked at the Digits Bar. He made excellent drinks and was super friendly!

The staff could not be more kind, the management more oblivious. Called about a broken jacuzzi and never heard a word, but the water was yellow so wasn't going in there anyway! It took 4 hours for my luggage to find my room. Ceilings were leaking when it rained in the lobbies. Bad concrete work, busted glass railings. Seriously short staffed wait and bar staff at the outdoor pool, 45 minute or more wait for a drink. Construction until after 7 on the veranda below our room. From the convention lobby to our room was 1/2 mile to the elevator and then 34 doors on our floor to our room...it really felt like I was in the MGM in Vegas! Positives were staff, bedding, views, and felt very secure, and again, the staff was very pleasant and doing their best.
