Black Marlin - Kadidiri

island is amazing and location excellent - but accommodation was really horrible. Run down, basic, not very clean (heaps of rubbish behind our room). Food absolutely terrible - 2 minute noodle with half cooked egg in it on our arrival. Other good very basic, poor quality (dry cake and a bana for breakfast). Drinking water only available from restaurant and at meal times. No soap, putrid toilet. Very arrogant ad rude owner - they seem to favour divers who spend $$& though we spoke to a spainish tourist who got put in intermediate session (he is advanced) and there was only one instructor and class full of new beginners who had never dived. He spent all his time helping and guiding them - no thanks let alone a discount - and as he said ‘very unsafe’. The location is stunning g but do your research - this is a horrible place to stay- dirty, basic, unwelcoming, terrible food and service. Do not go here - there is much better on the island.

May be it's a good place for divers, but we were a group of non-divers and there was really no point to stay. No beach, not particularly friendly staff (particularly the english owner). Average rooms, not too clean. Two of our groups had also to change their rooms after dinner, following a request from staff for unspecified reasons.

Horror story with this company. The worst experience after 20 years we operate tours in Indonesia. We ordered a stay in Black Marlin for a group of 11 people, as well as 3 private charter boat transfers. We payed everything in advance as the owner of Black Marlin resort, Crispin Gibbs, insisted. We waited in Ampana for a speedboat from Black Marlin. The boat came 3 hours later and was broken. We went on the sea and after 10 minutes the engine stopped working and the boat was non functional. We had to find a new speed boat which was very expensive due to last minute booking. After arrival in the resort, we did not have our rooms ready and there was no staff to take care of us, only two young boys, who can not keep up and run the whole resort. The accomodation is in a really bad shape. The bathrooms in most of the rooms are not functioning. The place is not maintained. I ordered day trips for my group in advance, but there was nobody to organize the day trips with. We managed to move to the next resort, Kadidiri Paradise, which is very well maintained and has a very helpfull staff. We had to organize new charter boat transfers, as the boat from Black Marlin was brokend. Neither the owner of Black Marlin, neither the staff of Black Marlin tried to helps us to find a new boat. They did not contact us in this matter at all. Now the owner Crispin Gibbs, who lives in Bali and does not care about the resort at all, refuses to return our payment back. The police will be involved in this matter. Avoid this resort and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Nous avons passé 4 jours dans cet excellent resort. Très calme, une plage agréable, patron sympa. Nous avions réservé 2 nuits au black marlin et deux au kadidiri paradise et devant l inconfort de ce dernier, le patron nous a trouvé une nouvelle chambre pour deux nuits. Bon resort
