Stunning dinner, well informed and welcoming staff. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Bathroom large and well equiped. Bed, pillows, towels and lovely bathroom products all wonderful. Great breakfast, lots of choices, eggs done to perfection.

Stayed in the Gables superior suite for two nights. Room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Really enjoyed the food. Staff attentive and made you feel very welcome. My husband left his jacket in the room and Phil and his team are going above and beyond to post it back to us.

Thank you to everyone at 1863 who made our stay so fantastic. We have eaten here on previous trips to Pooley Bridge but never stayed. We booked a 2 night dinner bed and breakfast deal. We checked in after walking Place Fell, it was a freezing cold day. The room was warm and beautifully decorated, with a complimentary ginger bridge biscuit to have with your cup of coffee. Everything in the room is of a high standard, comfortable bed, dressing gowns, complimentary bathing products, fluffy towels and a hot shower. We had a 3 course meal on the first night and a 7 course taster menu on the second night. Wow, compliments to the chef. Amazing food, every course was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. I can’t do it justice describing it in a review you should come and try it for yourself. My favourites were the cod and venison dishes and that Baron Bigod on salted cracker was delicious. The pistachio frangipan and rhubarb desert was one of the best I’ve ever had. Breakfast was lovely too. The staff are so helpful and very knowledgeable with recommendations about drinks. We had a great time. Thanks to all at 1863 😊

This is a fantastic restaurant with the benefit of being able to stop over. Plus there's a few hostelries nearby too for a post walk pint. The food is simply amazing. High quality produce, cooked perfectly and, presented beautifully by informative and friendly staff. The rooms are well appointed and clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows that made a restful night easy to achieve. The bathroom (room 7) is a wet room with a slipper bath - perfect to unwind before trundling down the stairs for the evening meal. We had a 3 course tasting menu on the Friday, with a 7 course on the Saturday. Both fantastic. Just an amazing experience.

This restaurant with rooms was the perfect choice for our hiking weekend with a treat at the end! My bedroom was very well appointed with plenty of space and a lovely bathroom. Immaculately clean (as was the whole establishment). Overall, the greeting, service and food were top notch.

This was our 2nd pre-Xmas getaway at this wonderful restaurant with rooms and it was so good, we have decided to make it a Christmas tradition. All the staff seem genuinely proud of where they work and this shines through from the moment you arrive, at every meal service and within the spotlessly clean rooms. Our menus on this break were exceptional and there was a noticeable step up from our last stay. We plan to visit again in spring to sample a different season and I am sure it won’t disappoint.
