There are so many wonderful things to say about this lovely hotel. The owner is very personable and genuine. She went out of her way to ensure our visit was comfortable. The hotel is immaculate. The breakfast is traditional and satisfying. The shared patio was the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine. You’d never know the hotel was there if you were simply walking by. However you would do yourselves a disservice if you didn’t stay here when visiting Barcelona. - Jennifer Wheels and Robynne Alexander

We have just spent a wonderful three nights at Casa Mathilda. The hotel and rooms are beautiful and everything is of a very high standard. The bed is huge and comfortable and the shower fab. The location is perfect too, for all Barcelona has to offer. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel.

After a busy day of sightseeing and walking around the city, coming back to Casa Matilda each evening felt like coming home. The rooms are comfortable, relatively quiet considering the busyness of the city, and the breakfast is first class! We enjoyed eating on the back terrace and exchanging travel ideas with our fellow travellers. Alexander, the concierge, was so helpful! We strongly recommend this lovely bed and breakfast for its excellent location in the Eixample district.

Such a great stay! We got in late so very much appreciated their arranged driver who assisted us into the building. The room/bed/shower were great and coffee / breakfast was super convenient. Overall, it was very quiet, however, as with other area hotels, pack your earplugs if adjusting from a significant time zone difference and needing to sleep outside normal hours. Would definitely rebook!

Casa Mathilda was our first accommodation during our 4 week honeymoon throughout Spain and Morocco and one of the most memorable. We stayed in both an interior room and a terrace room and both were cozy and had everything we needed.. The staff were incredibly helpful to us during and after our stay (we entrusted them with a mission to help get our lost package of belongings sent back to us in the USA). We loved sun bathing on the outdoor patio. It is located in a great part of Barcelona, walking distance to Passeig de Gracia, Sagrada Familia, Placa de Catalunya, and La Rambla. Finally, it is affordable while still providing a comfortable place to stay. Highly recommend Casa Mathilda for anyone traveling in Barcelona.

This hotel is conveniently located to main tourist attractions. The room we stayed is clean and space is just right for 2 people. Love the common area and outside balcony.

We stayed at Casa Mathilda for 3 nights. Staff were welcoming after our very long trip from Australia. The room was clean and comfortable and opened onto the lovely patio area which we made full use of and took breakfast there each day. It was a bit cosy as we had a 3rd camp style bed added to the double room at a cost of €50 extra per night to accomodate our family group. This suited us and was cost effective. The air con did not seem to be very effective at all but this did not impact us too much. We did hear the school children next door on the Friday afternoon but it was not at all detrimental to our enjoyment. There were several supermarkets within a short walking distance and we could easily walk to the metro to get to the Gothic Quarter and port. There were several local tapas restaurants nearby and check out those recommended by the hotel. We did. It was a 10 minute stroll to Sagrada Familia. We could help ourselves to tea and biscuits from the kitchen/dining area located just outside our room at any time and there was a well equipped vending machine with well priced snacks, soft drinks and beer. Coffee pods were €1 from the machine and there was fresh filter coffee each morning alongside a delightful continental help yourself breakfast. The quality was fantastic and including cured meats, an unbelievably good tortilla/Spanish omelette, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and juices, nuts, breads, preserves, muffins and croissants. We took our time and enjoyed the experience each morning. No rush as it was served till 10.30. We were able to store our luggage till late on our day of check out and were given the door code to get in as reception had left for the day. Alexander was extremely polite and helpful as were all the staff we encountered. Casa Mathilda is a relaxed, homely, warm and welcoming 5 * base for your stay in Barcelona. Recommended and we hope to return one day.

Boutique hotel in quiet Diagonal area of Eixample. Plenty of tapas places in the area and a close walk to Plaza Catalunya. Helpful staff, clean rooms, nice outdoor patio. My only complaint is the school nearby which has noisy children all day. This was bothersome to us because as tourists we took a daily siesta and it was impossible to rest with the yelling of children heard throughout the hotel.
