오리엔트 호텔 반다라웰라

We loved our stay at hotel Orient, as a family of 8. We camped at Eagle Rock and did a nice walk through the tea plants with our guide Pule. The hotel provided a nice lunch. Afterwards we stayed at the temple and did a meditation session with the munks. New Year’s Eve we spent at the hotel, there is a great bar and the restaurant is great. We recommend!

Not a hotel where it is easy to sleep with noisy generator outside the windows. The staff are really helpful, and they managed to find us a quieter room (2 actually, the first replacement room was damp, the bedding was actually wet) but not everyone was so lucky. No staff no cover on reception from early evening, no hot water so had to call an engineer the following morning meaning we all had cold showers our first night, limited towels and an aggressive selling of the dinner option on arrival didn't go down well with us. Despite most staff being really great the barman was a miserable grump. He closed the karaoke early at 2000, saying it was too loud for guests despite the hotel being half empty and the advertised times being until 2200. The next day it was apparently "out of order". If it wasn't for the very helpful staff I would have given 1 star.
