테르말레스 델 보스크(Termales del Bosque & Hot Springs)

This place was a highlight of our trip. My family loved the hot pools and it's amazing paths and views. We ate at the restaurant on site 2 times and really enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our bungalow was fantastic other than the hard spring feeling beds. We woke up to every toss and turn, but other than that this place was exactly what we were looking for and needed. Very beautiful and clean.

The Thermal pools were great. Grounds and area is beautiful.

The Spring Waters are amazing, so natural inside the forest. It is a must.

The hot springs were a wonderful and relaxing experience! The location of the springs is reached by a path through the forest. It’s like walking through the jungle and at the end reaching a glorious area of hot spring pools in which to relax. There’s a very rustic changing area and lockers, but also a bar with food. It was a hidden gem! I highly recommend it!

Let me start off by stating the rooms at Termales del Bosque are moderately priced (we got a dinner, breakfast, room and entrance to Termales for about $70 US), so you have to consider what you are getting for the cost of your stay. Yes, the rooms are lackluster - no fridge and the mattresses are thin, but you have Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a shower. The free breakfast is a traditional CR breakfast and we weren't provided any alternative options, which we were ok with. The Termales were a lot of fun for us (we are healthy 50 year-olds), and the trek down the path (during the day) was just fine for us. While there, we had a true Costa Rican downpour and watched as the river filled up and rushed by, but no worries, you are safe and sound and can return to your car (or room) with no problem. This undoubtedly is a place that is frequented by locals and travelers alike. We went during a weekday, so the pools were not very crowded and it was neat to experience what felt like an authentic experience.

Electricity service in the hot springs / forest is included until 9:30 pm. If you are in the forest around that time they turn off the light and you are completely dark in the middle of the forest, where only a bulb or two can shine on you. They do not distinguish or discriminate if it is a rainy day with dangerous animals to turn off the lights when leaving after the mentioned time, along a path of around 300m, a total risk to attend this hotel. Caution. ————————— El servicio de electricidad en las aguas termales / bosque se incluye hasta las 9:30 de la noche. Si estás dentro del bosque alrededor de esa hora te apagan la luz y quedas completamente a oscuras en medio del bosque, donde solamente un foco o dos pueden alumbrarte. No distinguen o discriminan si es un día lluvioso con animales peligrosos para apagarte las luces al salir luego de la hora mencionada, por un camino de alrededor 300m, un total riesgo asistir a este hotel. Precaución.

I liked the nicely illuminated cement block path (with wood rail supports) that leads one down and down toward the hot springs, which are located in a beautiful wooded setting. The a**osphee is tremendous. The deli and drink bar (which I did not utilize) was an added attraction. The only negative I would mention is that the bathroom shower needs to have soap trays, and ideally would have some non-slippage *****s for footing - or at least a study railing inside. I say this because at my age of 75, I need to be ever vigilant against falls. The tile flooring in the shower renders it slick. Again, as I am ever vigilant it did not present a problem. But we did have to put our bar of soap on the floor (in its paper wrapping, no less!) just outside the shower.

Old facilites low mantainance is evident. After 9pm you cannot take a shower with warm water despite they offer hot shower. Bed old and crappy. If you are retired be careful, your access to hotspring water will be difficult as no railings to enter the hot spring waters are available, water is blurry so you cannot really tell where is a rock or a stair. It is a shame they are not taking care of the huge opportunity to have hotspring water in the middle of such a impressive forest.

Estuvimos en las termas y lo pasamos genial. El señor de la cafetería nos enseñó todo perfectamente, nos contó cosas muy interesantes y nos sentimos como en casa. Un sitio muy tranquilo alejado de todo lo turístico. Un sitio con mucha magia, super recomendable.
